The symposium will feaBy The 29 ture such well -- ers as: known speak- Edward Fasy, psychologist; Emma Lou Thane, poet; Marilyn Arnold, English professor at Brigham Young ersity, and Reverend Dr. Alice Boyack, religious coordinator, Westminster College. Discussions will include Ida Smi u; director of womens affairs, Brigham Young University; Jan Clemm'r, research historian; Hector Chacon, Spanish literature, and James T. Svendsen, language and theater professor. The symposium is sponsored by the Monticello Womens Group and the San Juan School Community through a grant from the Utah for the Arts. The Friday evening session will begin at 7 p.m. with Dr. Fasy addressing the subject Endowment, Nielson - Bates Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Nielson of Dlanding are happy to announce the marriage of their son Lyle Kirk Nielson to Leslie Bates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Bates of Price, Utah. The couple was married March 14 in the Manti Temple, with Kline Black officiating. - Leslie graduated with high honors from Carbon High School in 1979, where she participated in the Decca Club, drama, and was on the gym- nastic team. She received the State Normal scholarship and is cur-- - rently attending CEU. Lyle graduated from San Juan High School in 1975, where he was active in school government, drama, and participated in all sports. He served an LDS Church mission in France and Switzerland. He has attended Dixie College and BYU and is now attending CEU. A reception was held in their honor on March 15 at the LDS Institute' of Religion in Price, and an open house wiU be held in Blanding this Saturday, at the March 22, Blanding li- brary. ESA chapter meets The regular meeting of BeDelta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha was held March 12 at the home of Colleen with co - hostess Ballard, Pellant. Cynthia Before the meeting a potluck supper was held, and Sherry Leonard spoke on the Womens Symposium. The meeting was called to ta order by President Sue Stan-ar- d. friendship tea was to be held on Wednesday of this and Four in Moab, week Council Corners meeting will in be held April. The local chapter will have DaleCollard running for the office of treasurer in the Four Corners Council. State Council was held in Moab on Saturday, March 15. Tie Saturday session will begin a; 9 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m., with an optional luncheon included for a small fee and babysitting available for those wishing it at a small charge per hour. The committee for the con- ference consists of: Sue Halliday, project director; Becky Blackburn, Bernie Mr. and Mrs. Mark D. Bayles, also of Blanding. Ann is a graduate of San Juan High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and student body secretary. She was also active in band and on the drill team. Ann received an associate degree in secretarial science from S.U.S.C. in Cedar City and is currently employed as a secretary at San Juan High School. The bridegroom - elect is also a San Juan High School graduate. He served as jun- ior class president and was involved in varsity basketball and in football. Bill served a two - year mission in Hong Church. Kong, for the LDS He is presently em- ployed by the San Juan School District. Marriage vows will be solemnized in the Manti Temple in early April, after which the young couple will make their home in Blanding. A wedding reception will be held in their honor on Friday, April 11, from 8 to 10:30 p.m. in the North Cultural Hall in Blanding.
