The game, played February 22 in Monticello, was good and exciting all the way. The Bucks shot very well the first three quarters, but Emery proved too much in the end. The Bucks played much better in this game than they did in the first game with the Spartans, which Monticello lost 9. The Bucks led by a single point, 2, at the end of the first quarter. Van Codner, the 138 - pound wrestler for MonticeUo, had a slow start in the season, but once he did get started, he wrestled well, placed second in the state tournament and had a 15-- 5 overall season re- cord. Mike Kirby wrestled at 155 pounds and did a very good rsity: Ninth grade, Sheldon Ran-da- U, Doug Whipple, Todd Eldredge, Ben SuttlemyreRay Lyndon Chee, Martinez, Christopher Joe. In his statement summing up the season, Coach Davis said: I would like to take the opportunity to publicly express to those my appreciation people who took the time to support our program this year. This support helps make an athletes time more worthwhile and aids in generating the enthusiasm that is needed to provide a successful and continuing program. Russel Lansing .The recent state wrestling tournament at Salina saw six Whitehorse School High wrestlers competing. Russel Lansing, Jerry Nacki and Del- bert Topaha won their first matches and advanced to the second round. All three met wrestlers who had taken state in each weight class. Russel met Gordan Tayer, a two-time state champion. Earl La- - Delbert Topaha meman won his second match 0. Bruce Hatch pinned Ron OGill, who placed third in state last year.
