Mr. Johnson was born in Colonia Diaz, Chihuahua, Mexico on January 16, 1900, the seventh of 12 children born to James Parley Johnson and Eliza Jane Rowley. He lived in Old Mexico until he was 12 years old, at which time the Mexicans forced his and other families to leave the colonies. He gave up school to help support the family. From age 13, he worked on ditches, in sawmills, and built fences for cattlemen on the Elk and Blue Mountains. Then for several years he rode as on Elk Mountain and his death he never until up out of ran stories to tell about his cowboy life. Glen married Margaret Ellen Palmer in the Salt Lake Temple on January 7, 1920, and they are the parents of seven children. Two babies preceding him in death. The first few years of Glens and Ellens married life were spent in Blanding, then later they moved to Cortez, Colorado, where Glen farmed as a cow-punc- sharecropper for 16 her years. While in Colorado, Glen enjoyed playing baseball with the other farmers, this being one of his many hobbies. He also enjoyed hunting and playHe was an ing horseshoes. artist and made several miniature farm wagons with teams of horses, which were perfect in detail. In the fall of 1939, he moved his family back to Blanding; where he went into the carmany homes in Blanding, his first. Some of his carpentry years were spent working with his sons. The last few years before retirement he spent working in the Western Auto Store and the Blanding Lumber Store with his son Sylvan. Since his retirement he has spent his time working in his yard and keeping his home beautiful. He and his wife Ellen celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1969. Since then they have enjoyed eight more years together for a total of 58 years. Glen Johnson is survived by his wife Ellen and children Sylvan, Norma, and Glenna of Blanding, Keith of Salt Lake, and Leon of Cedar City and own being the Texas Jumbo Yams 49c 29c GlenR.
