Show The San Juan Record by Vis tadelC amino Neighborhood FLORENCE Center at 7700 East Roosevelt, the citys new Senior Citizen center which recently opened by Florence Galbraith for March 4 & The highlight of the senior citizens covered dish party Tuesday evening at the library was the musical entertainment given by Bishop Francis 5 Lyman and his son Kent. Bishop Lyman played several numbers on his saxophone accompanied on the piano by Kent and Kent played several piano solos. Everyone there thoroughly enjoyed their music. Next Tuesday Dr. DeL. Gibbons will be a speaker at the library at 2 p.m. It is hoped that all senior citizens will be there to hear him speak on high blood pressure and the proper foods and 'exercises one can take to control and avoid it. Our county nurse, Mrs. Mabel Wright will also be there to take blood pressures for all those who wish it. Mr. William A. Varga, research associate of the plant science department of Utah State University at Logan, was in town Tuesday to demonstrate the proper way to prune shrubs and trees. He did his demonstrating at the Reed Alsop orchard which is the orchard formerly owned by the late Justin Black. Mr. Varga stressed the importance of proper prunning of fruit trees in the proper way at the proper time in order to have good year. Chief Dan George was up for awards for his part in Proud Earth. Chief George is an Indian and a charming talented person. His daughter and her husband accompanied him to the awards night. Among those attedning were Mr. and Mrs. Stan Bronson of Provo, Mr. Mike Hurst and two charming young ladies from U. N. D. C. After the Grammy awards the specially invited guests went in limousines to the Hollywood Hilton hotel for an elaborate buffet dinner and dancing. Among the celebraties attending were Pat Boone and the Jackson Five. Ruby brought back autographs from Pat Boone and the Jackson Five. Also attending this affair was Arlien and her husband Grant Williams. Arlien did a lot of the singing in the album Proud Earth." Mr. and Mrs. Willard Guy-mreceived word that last Sunday their daughter Ramona was sustained as president of her ward Relief Society inSalt Lake City. She is married to David Clark Pruden. On Wednesday the Prudens phoned the Guymons that the stork had left a brand new son at their home that morning and on Wednesday was to have been the first Relief Society meeting for Ramona to conduct. Needless to say the Prudens are tickled pink over their first arrival. He will be named after his daddy and Grandpa and grandma. Willard and Alberta Guymon are walking on cloud nine since the arrival of their first grandchild. Henry Hurst came from Orem Friday night. He was on his way down to Phoenix, Arizona, to move one of his daughters where she has employment. He was an overnight guest of his sister Maggie HarOn Saturday morning vey. he and Maggie drove to Phoenix and returned here the next day. Last Friday Mr. and Mrs. Vint Redd drove to Phoenix, Arizona, where they caught a plane for ElSequndo, California, in order to attend their cousin Dick Vidmars funeral on Saturday. The Redds flew back to Phoenix and had a visit with Florence and Jim Foster who are spending the winter 'there. They returned to Blanding the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. WiUard Guymon were special guests at a party in Monticello onSaturday evening in honor of his many years with the U.S. Forest Service. soon.
