REGARDING THAT CUP it seems that there is some little misunderstanding regarding the disposition of the silver cup given by the amusement committee as a trophy and won by the garland baseball team the garland team is ig of the opinion that the cup was to be defended during the year 1904 only however it is not clear how they could put that construction st upon the matter as the rules are arc positive in the statement that it was wis to be defended each season be beginning 0 inning with april loth and ending nov 15 the object was to have something in the county to create a healthy rivalry between the several teams we connot see how the cup could answer any good purpose in any other way the garland boys won it fair ly and squarely and defended it w worthily last year let us have the cup put up again this year as was intended and if the garland boys can keep it so much the merrier but give the other teams a chance dit A IV ENSIG T
