We have shared ideas. He knows, as we know, that too many of our problems here in Utah originate in Washington. Our oldest senator is more a part of the problem than the solution. He has failed to serve on key Senate committees that are vital to our state, and eighty percent of the decisions in the United States Senate are made in committee. As a result, we have lost thousands of jobs and the use of our public lands. And Utahs precious water is being siphoned off to other states. We have been short changed. And we will continue to be short changed until we have representation on these committees. Jack Carlson is a young man, greatly experienced for his years in the areas vital to Utah. also called on another sister, Mrs. Ella Leffel in Dove Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Charles , Snyder went to Moab Sunday to watch the boats come in from the Friendship Cruise. in Cynthia and James are moving back to Monticello for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. James Barry went to Ogden Tuesday to bring Stephanie home from Weber College. Muh-leste- We are confident that Jack has the expertise to achieve membership on these'committees. Some Utahns think problems in Washington cant be solved. And especially that pne Senator cant make a difference. We cant buy that. Jack Carlson can make a difference. But only if we give him the opportunity to work for us. Please attend your scheduled Republican County Convention Saturday, June 5 and select delegates who will make sure we nominate Jack Carlson. Unjted States Senator. Then we can start solving problems. One man can make a difference. Field Day The annual Field Day at the Monticello Elementary School featured a new look this year. All the events that required measurements were changed to metric distances. Because the conversions to metric figures were rounded off, the distances were not exactly equal to the old events. So new school records are now being kept for those events that were changed. The 600 yard run became a 5 50 -- meter run. The 50 -- yard dash became a dash. The high jump, broad jump, limbo and softball throws were all measured in metric units. The new school record holders in each event are: 55 M dash - Mike Dodge, Tanya Billings. . 550 M run - Ronnie Mussel-ma- n, 55-me- ter Debra Randall. Limbo - Mike Dodge, Joyce Hatch. n, Broad jump - Ronnie Kara Odette. High jump - Ronnie Mussel-ma- n, Tammy Francom. Softball Throw - George Ro. Mus-selma- mero, Alice Romero. The names of the old school record holders will be retired. Forty-fiv- e sixth grade students were honored in a special assembly on Wednesday, May 26.
