Show The San Juan Record August 8, 1974 8 (3 and view this week-en- d, will be coming to Bluff Saturday to enjoy Bluffs first Summer Festival, an experiment in conjunction with the established Yanito Brothers two-da- y Rodeo, both Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m., August 10 and 11. The Saturday Festival, chaired by Jennielean Nielson, ff is planning a series of Satthe events, following urday afternoon Rodeo. The town parade, starting at 6 p.m. from the Count Highway building, will proceed to the jailhouse for a town pot-lusupper on The Slab. Knight (left), and Luther Risenhoover (right), both of Mexican Hat, recently completed a school bus driving course at Utah Technical College at Provo, Utah. The Provo college is the only state operated college in the state of Utah to offer a course in Professional Truck Driving. Tragic Accident Claims Life By Janet Wilcox The community was shocked to hear of the tragic death of Mabel Hurst, age 73 which Phil occured August 2nd. Hurst was seriously injured in the car-truaccident and was flown to the Grand Junction Hospital where he is still listed in critical condition. The accident occured two miles west of Paradox, Colorado on Hwy. 90 about 5 p.m. The Hursts were headed home after spending the day visiting friends. The Hurst car was traveling west rounding a corner when sharp right-han- d it crossed the center line striking the rear tires of a trailer of a large semi truck carrying acid. Funeral services for Sister Mabel were held Wednesday August 7th at 1:00 attheL.D.S. Chapel. The Hursts recently celebrated a lovely 50th wedding anniversary June 8th with all their family and many friends. Our community will greatly miss this lovely woman and the many services she has rendered over the rears. ck Water Show Scheduled By Janet Wilcox Its guaranteed youll see Different Strokes for Different Folks at this years Blanding Water Show scheduled for August 16 and 17. The show begins at 7:00 p.m. with tickets 50 a person or $3.00 a family. Swim show director, Becky Homedew', states that 54 swimmers and divers will be invol- ved in this years program which features 17 different numbers including floating, swimming, diving and come- dy routines. Changes Lease Filing Procedures Effective August 1, there will be new forms to be used by applicants in drawings for leases to be issued in nonproducing areas. No change is being made in the competitive leasing program for producing areas. After August 1, 1974, applicants for oil and gas leases under the simultaneous oil and gas leasing procedures (43 CFR 3112) must use a revised one-pa- rt drawing entry card which bears Bureau of Land Management form number dated May 1974. The card with the same number, dated Jul 1973, will not be accepted.
