Show f Letter To Editor Dear Editor, We would like to take and respect with which the bodies of our loved one and his friends were handled. Mental torment and anguish was a daily companion in our lives for more than a year. And yet we can truly say that we have been blessed by having men such as these, who were willing to extend every effort to help us. There are so many good people left in this world and we have been fortunate in having some of the very best to work with us. I would not have believed it possible for strangers such as we were, to have been treated with such kindness and sympathy as has been shown to us by so many, for so long. So once again, may I say thanks to all the many people who have done so much to remove the shadow of doubt and in our lives. uncertainty Sincerely, Thelma Matson, M.M. Unless you have experienced a year of almost unbearable anxiety and desperate searching you can not know how much a helping hand and a word of encouragement can mean. Over the past year some of us have made five trips to your area with our County Sheriff, H. C. Stone, to check out leads and to conduct private searching. We have never failed to find help on every hand. We returned on October 16 to distribute 3000 leaflets to deer hunters, enlisting their aid in locating the plane. The managers of the cafes, motels, service stations, grocery stores, the Sheriffs offices, T V stations and Radio stations were all willing and anxious to help us spread them. For this we are sincerely grateful. Words are simply not adequate to express our thanks to Sheriff Rigby Wright and the men of his Sheriffs Posse for the personal concern and kind consideration they showed to us when the plane was found. Some of these men worked all night to gather the equipment that was needed for the recovery of the men. They allowed us to accompany them to the crash site and did everything possible to make it as easy as they could on us. We were truly touched by the dignity fc It was zero at Ucolo Tuesday morning. We do not mean that there is absolutely no possibility of a shortage of electricity due to a power plant failure or a disaster of some nature, but barring some such unfor-see- n difficulty, you can be assured that we can furnish the needs of our consumers and plan to continue to do so. 16, 1973 Nixons recent President message regarding conservation of energy was very alarming to most of the American people. However, he was speaking in general terms and including all forms of energy into one statement. For complete understanding, we must review each type of energy and its availability in our own local area and the effect on our natural resources when energy using each source. If price and publicity are any indication, there is, and will continue to be, scarcity of petroleum fuels and natural gas. Some areas of the U.S. have a very real shortage of electric power. The Pacific Northwest area is short of water in reservoirs for generation of electric energy. Areas depending on natural gas and fuel oil for generation of electricity will be short of electricity due to the shortage of fuel to fire the power plants. Sometimes, people panic at the word shortage and react before considering the circumstances of what is and what is not in short supply. Hasty decisions usually are incorrect decesions based on lack of weighing the facts. All of the electricity used in our service area is proic duced by either coal-fired steam plants or no There is plants. shortage fuel nor of power plant capacity. Long range planning has been accomplished to injure a plentiful supply for our hydro-electr- needs, both forseeable future. It does take longer to get a power plant from planning to production, and the costs have skyrocketed due to a combination of inflation and provision for environmental protection. We do not advocate wasteful uses of any fuel, including However, since electricity. there is no shortage of electricity we do encourage people to use the amounts necessary for their needs. The amount of electricity used for Christmas decorations in the towns served by Empire Electric amounts to 8100 of one percent of electric sales in one normal months operation. This electricity as well as manpower and equipment to install the municipal Christmas decorations are donated by Empire Electric. We are willing to make this this year unless the administration refuses our offer in some of the towns we don-nati- on serve. If it were necessary to curtail use of electric service we could suggest many ways to save large amounts of electricity. For instance the huge amounts of electricity used by major recreation areas that are a pleasure but not a necessity of life. There are many ways to improve our practices in conservation of fuels by proper use of equipment and heating plants and attention to our living habits.
