Show Thunderbird speedway fo open May 2 FLORENCE Citizens of Blanding let's have "all our news in the paper each weel. If you have a happening in your family that you'd like to see in print, please call me at anytime of day and let me know what, who, when, where, etc Mrs. Frank Beeson and daughter, Chis, returned the first of the week from up Ogden way, where they had been to see a grandchild baptised. On the way home it started to snow and storm until they could hardly see the road. We are glad they arrived home safely in spite of all the hazzards. We are glad to hear Eetty and Glen Skinner are taking a long vacation in Hawaii. We hope to hear more about the trip later on. We have heard of several leaky houses since the severe w indstorms of the past weekend. Huge sections of shingles have been reported blown off of several roofs here. Sure hope they all get fixed before our much needdd, long awaited rains begin. It is reported that the temperature dropped to 27 degrees last Sunday night and reir.ianed at this temperature for several hours. It is feared that much of our fruit crop has already been damaged thus 678-276- 1, far. Mrs. Rowena Winters and Mrs. Norma Nielson, both of whose birthdays occured trouble watching our weight as we grow older. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Leo Black drove to Farming-to- n, New Mexico on business. fro all they do to keep our town in excellent running order. Mrs. Susan Butt and Mrs. Kutn Palmer made a business trip and pleasure trip to Moab tha middle of the nfiTo week. We are glad to see our local bakery open again from Tuesday until Saturday inclusive. By holding their cars high on the bank the drivers can utilize the downhill slope to increase the speed coming out of a curve. The steeper banking will increase the average speed of the stock cars requiring the drivers to be more skillful and have quick reflexes. m mm memsc bMi STRONG BIG The Thunderbird Speedway In Dove Creek has their track, ready for the first stock car races of the season on May 2, 1971, The speedway has made improvements to the track that will contribute to greater enjoyment from the spectators viewpoint. The largest improvement consists of putting a steeper bank on the curves. The slope has been increased from degrees to 25 degrees.
