Mr. Nielson said BLM employees have fought about 100 fires so far this year in Utah. He praised fire fighting crews for controlling the fires before large acreages were burned over. But, he cautione that the state is now entering the most critical fire danger period. Coupled with the fire warning, the BLM state director issued an appeal against littering. Litter contributes to fire danger as well as being unsightly.
