Show USU Xmas lighting contest for Blanding Home on leave extension The Blanding Garden Club and the Blanding Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring an outdoor lightening contest for Christmas this year. The contest is open to all Blanding residents and can portray any theme desired. classes available - Jimmy and Elsie Berkey had their parents come from Farmington for Thanksgiving. The A. H. Duncans drove from Callup to join them. Salt Lake City was the destination of the Peter Henderson family over the holiday. They visited Linda's parents. Val and Eva Lab rum enjoyed having his parents, the Clem Labrums, from Roosevelt for Thanksgiving. On Friday Larry Labrum and his bride came by on their way to Provo Debbie Reeves and Vicki' Ahtsosie were home from college over the holiday. Both attend Utah State. Everett and Margaret Rich had their son David and family sharing their turkey. They came to Cortez from Phoenix. Mary Wilson was absent from ler first grade class last week. She and her husband were busy moving from Moab to Delta, Utah. J. T. and Bonnie Isham and diildren spent the long weekend soaking up the sunshine in 3hoenix. Clad to hear that Danny Nelson wasn't seriously hurt Wednesday in the plant accident at the Blanco Camp. He and Helen and the baby joined Bob. and Lucille and the rest of the family for Thanksgiving, Leo and Wannie Carr spent i last week vacationing in New Mexico and Texas. Leo returned home Sunday, leav- -. ing Wannie in Lubbock to await the arrival of their second grandchild. Patty Hoskins had to remain in the hospital in Cortez over Thanksgiving but it is hoped she will be home this week. Quite a few of our residents stayed home and took it easy over the holiday. Some of them enjoyed dinner with neighbors. Turkey always tastes twice as good when shared with family or friends. ' If that's the case Harold and Carol Cloer had a marvelous day - they had both family friends. Juan School District has announced that any class which is taught at Utah State University may be given to interested residents of the County Design need not be elaborate to win. Judging will be held during the week of Dec. 15 through Dec. 19, and cash prizes will be awarded the following week to the winners. and will count as credit at Utah State. The classes will be taught at both Blanding and Monticello if enough interested persons sign up for the courses. If you are interested in pursuing a degree program, or if you just desire to take some lasses for your own interest, ontact Dr. Karl Brooks at the chool District Office for the letails. j . n AGROUND THE LTOWrihEJ The Blaine Jones family has returned from a six day visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Jones of South Jordan and Mr. and Mrs. Arlovf G. Adamson of Draper. Former residents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry McCabe of Rigby Idaho, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clement Johnson last week. The McCabes werd returning from Durango, Colcv where they had been visiting Mr. McCabe's sister. ,7 II Pvt. E2 Robert P. Lovato has been home on a nine day leave visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Lovato of LaSal, and his wife, Linda who resides in Moab. Pvt. Lovato entered the service Aug. 6, 1969 and completed his basic training at Fort Lewis, Wash. Jay and Carol Palmer and Alicia, from Blanding, spent the day with Carol's folks, Marvin and LaFem Avery. The Community Club met on Dec. 1 and Mr. LaLonde's fith grade class put on a skit entitled "Up a Christmas Tree" and then the school chorus sang "Alouette" and "The Marine Hymn. " The chorus is under the direction of Mrs. Karen Moore. This next Tuesday, Dec. 9, will be Women's Game Night agan. Please bring an exchange gift if you plan to enjoy an evening out.
