One had the feeling of being in a ghost town and unless you wandered into a store that was open and talked to the lone clerk on duty you felt mighty lonesome. Why this exodus of the residents of our community? Well nearly the entire town had gone to Provo to watch their marvelous MHS Buckaroos try their hand at the state tourna- ment. And although our Buckaroos did not bring home a state trophy, they certainly caused a lot of stir and comment in the big city of Provo and handled themselves very well on the floor of the gymnasium. On Wednesday evening the Nursing Home in Blanding was the scane of a very hilarious program. The performers were all in costume and performed for the patients, much to their delight. Lucy Harris and her nephew, Guy Harris, both of Blanding, were the Masters of Ceremony and gave a number of jokes, vaudeville style. Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Marion Jones gave two humorous dances, accompanied by Mrs. Kay Jones. Student teachers Ann Daut-ric- li, Loretta Tumquist, Connie Brewer and Laurel Platt, dressed in old fashioned bathing suits, sang several gay 90 songs and Mrs. Harris gave two readings for which she is so famous. After the main program was over the group sang many the game Buckaroos and their coaches. This is the third time this past year that the Bucks have gone to state - first for the football championship, second their wrestlers made a big hit in state competition and now going to state for the basketball tournament. Each and every one of the players should feel extremely proud of himself for his efforts this year and the coaches are to be highly commended for their successful efforts to bring forth a winning team. So far as Monticello is concerned Ray Odette has to be the COACH OF THE YEAR as he has produced a winning football team and a winning basketball team within one year. Most schools have both a football coach and a basketball coach to handle both assignments but MHS has Ray Odette who has done a magnificent job.
