Show 50 Years of Wedding Bliss tm The "Big Storm" did not keep the Elanding people from att- ending the Golden Wedding Reception in honor of Floyd and Clara Nielson. It did, however, curtail the number of people coming from Monti-cell- o. There were a few hardy couples who braved the drifting snow, poor visibility and slippery roads to come to Blanding to congratulate the young-in-hecouple on this event. Over a hundred guests signed the guest book presided over by Jane Roring and Beverly Nielson, grandchildren of the honored couple. The Blanding Library had been decorated by the daughters of the family. Corinne Roring had obtained live magnolia leaves from John's uncle in Oklahoma and these were used as a base for pale golden candles in various heights and sizes. The tables were centered by thick, pale kb seosott ait Special Xmas Miss Laws Christmas bride . services for churches In a late afternoon ceremony held in the Blanding Library on Dec. 23 Miss Julene Laws became the bride of James Kenneth Libberton. The ceremony was performed by Bishop LaRae Alexander of the Blanding Second Ward. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Laws of Blanding and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold P. Libberton of Lenox, A Christmas theme pervaded the Church services at both the First and Second Ward Sunday School classes held Dec. 24. The Second Ward opened its service with a devotional prelude by Doris Foy with Keith Redd conducting and with Deanne Randall as chorister. The invocation was given by A. Jay Redd. Casey Jones gave the Sacrament Gem and everyone joined in the singing of "Joy To The World" before the closing prayer by Doyle Row-le- y. Mo. Miss Laws is a graduate of San Juan High School and of LDS Business College and is presently employed as a secretary at the San Juan Welfare Office. The groom is employed by Avco in Blanding. He is a graduate of the York Commun ity High School in Thomson, 111. , and spent five years in the Air Force. The bride was attended by her cousin, Miss Vicky Laws, as maid of honor. Sisters of the bride, the Misses Wilma, Geneva and Rhea Laws, were bridesmaids. Pete Black was best man. The bride was lovely in a white metallic cloth street length gown which she designed and made. Her shoes were of the same material. Her veil of white net was fastened to a jeweled tiara and she carried a bridal bouquet of Talisman roses and bronze chrysanthemums. The maid of honor and the bridesmaids wore orange and white corduroy street length dresses. The same gold and white color theme was carried out in the wedding cake which was made by Denece Lyman and in the food and table Over 100 guests were served at the reception honoring the newly wed couple. Miss Betty Ann Hawkins and Miss Denece Lyman, cousins of the bride, were in charge of the gifts. Lou Ann Grover, Charlotte Black, Marlene Laws, Norma Laws and Lurline Palmer assisted in the kitchen and with the serving. Mrs. Cleston Laws was in charge of the guest book and Cleston Laws, brother of the bride, assisted with the enter- taining. The young couple will live in Blanding. the First Ward's program Ceraldine Bailey gave the At bo, prelude conducted by Kenneth Bailey. Allen Behunin gave the the Sacrament Gem followed by the administration of the Sacrament. The Junior Sunday School sang two hymns and John McKea performed with a violin solo accompanied by Bailey. The table cioths of gold net over yellow were outstanding in their symbolism. The main table had a magnificent arrangement of candles in varied tizes and shapes set in the sai.-- shiny leaves. From this table a buffet luncheon was served to the guests. Kar-olKimmerle and Donna Nielson, other grandchildren of the couple, presided over the punch bowl. The fcyer was decorated with the same colors. A huge arrangement of white poinsettias in greens with golden lights in the center of the flowers caught the eye of the guests as they entered the door. Arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Nielson was a collection of family photographs from the time of birth of the couple to the present day and this was the focal point for the guests as Mr. Nielson told about the pictures and their significance. Included were some raie photographs of Monticello and Bluff in the early days. The guests were greeted by the guests of honor and their children. Mrs. Nielson wore a gown of raw silk in a sage green color with a corsage of gold and white carnations. Mr. Nielson wore a carnation in the lapel of his dark suit. Music was furnished by Sylvia Nielson, Bud Nielson, Lisle Adams, Helen and Kelly Bayles and Irene Redd. The children of the couple hosted the reception for their parents on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding e yn Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Halli-da- y hosted a lovely Christmas party at their home on Saturday evening. The house, which is the Donald Adams' home, is very unique in its decor and was beautifully decorated with the Christmas motif. A huge fire burned in the fireplace, sending glowing warmth throughout the center room - a welcome sight to the guests who arrived amid the cold and snow. A buffet table was laden with Christmas food as well as a bountiful repast of fancy and exotic dishes, prepared by the hostess and in each room a different type of gourmet delight awaited the guests as they were invited to "snoop" around a bit in the other rooms. Guests arrived as early as in the evening and continued to arrive throughout 7: 30 Betrothel revealed Merry Christmas to you from the guests and the hosts. Comm un ity Church holds program The Community Church of Monticello had their annual Christmas Program on Sunday evening, Dec. 24. The program began at 7:00 pm, under the direction of class teachers, Mrs. Bernice Barry, Mrs. Marge Cole, Mrs. Margarette Allison, and Mr. Joe Harral. Guest song leader was Roger Posey, and Mrs. Ernest Harral was at the organ. Each class presented poems, songs and stories pertaining to Christmas. After the program treats were passed out. Arthur-Howe- ll Mis. Lucille Orr announces the engagement and forthcoming marriage of her daughter, Helen Diane Cash, to Steven George Rose, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Rose of Dolores, Colo. Diane is a graduate of MHS and of Hollywood Beauty School in Salt Lake City. She has been employed at the MiLady's Beauty Salon since November of 1966. Steve is a graduate of Dolores High School and is presently employed in Dolores. Diane's father, Glen Cash, is residing in Mancos, Colo. The couple is planning a June Wedding. kiiinjaaaflgj family. Gray, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn E. Gray, Blanding, Utah, completed a surgeon assistant couise Dec. 6 at Brooke Army Medical Center, Ft. Gray received his commission through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at the University of Arizona, Tucson, where he received his B. The rites were conducted by Bishop Grant Shumway and the couple was attended by Miss Donna Burnett and Jerry Howell, brother of the groom. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Arthur of Bluff and is a junior at San Juan High School. The groom's parents are Mr. Robert Howell of Bluff and Mrs. Sam Skiles of Mayfield, Utah. He is employed by the A- -l Drilling Company. The new Mrs. Howell chose for her wedding gown a street length white linen shift trimmed with pink rosettes on her collar. Her maid of honor wore a similarly styled dress of pink trimmed in white. The bride's mother wore a street length suit of blue. Refreshments were served to the wedding party and guests and consisted of punch and pieces of the wedding cake which was made by Mrs. Mary Nielson. The young couple left for a short wedding trip to Mayfield after the ceremony and are EDDED BLISS FOR MR. AND MRS.
