These citizens have come forward with the energy, devotion, and new enthusiasm for good progressite government within the framework of the Republican philosophy. That philosophy is based on the importance of a public trust, fiscal responsibility, true law enforcement and the rights and privileges of the individual citizen. si Congressman Burtons record in Washington not only speaks highly of his outstanding capabilities, but confirms the wisdom of all voters who selected him the peoples representative in Washington. The challenges and opportunities of the future in San Juan County are such that only candidates of experience and determination are truly qualified to meet the challenges and peize these opportunities for the betterment of our County. The proof of a man in office cannot be his promises: it must be his performance, his accomplishments, his voting record. What has Laurence Burton done to deserve your vote? Here is his record: In two short terms in the U. S. Congress, your Congressman. Laurence J. Burton, has achieved superior recognition for his diligence and attention to duty as your man in the House. The passage of legislation providing for burdensome taxes with long term indebtedness at the last general session of the Democrat controlled Utah Legislature should be reason enough for the voters of San Juan County to support these able candidates for the State Senate and House of Representatives. Both of these candidates have vigorously opposed these tax increases and State indebtedness. This is a cooperative team, all with the courage and honesty to independently reflect the desires of all the voters rather than those of strong lobby and minority pressure groups . . . this is the Republican team. We proudly present them for your approval. We respectfully request your support and your vote for these capable and dedicated candidates to ensure completely efficient and truly representative government in our County, State and Nation in the November 8 election. outstanding performance durhis first term, serving on the ing committee most important to the West, Interior and Insular Affairs, won him an additional major post in his second term on the Agricultural Committee (thats two signments: Assistant Republican Whip Member of Republican House Executive Committee (There are 140 Republican members in the House.)
