We miss the nightly ball games. However, we do have the swimming bus every Tuesday and Thursday and that gives lots of enjoyment to young and old alike. The bus has been loaded every time it leaves camp. The county's generosity is truly appreciated. If you're faint-heartyou better not attend all the Little League ball games. We've really been having the thrillers, A week ago last Tuesday our boys nosed out Pay Day Drug In the sixth inning to tie them for first place. Then on Friday we lost a good game to Hurst Oil. It appears though, that these games are a lot harder on the parents than they are on the boys. The Bill McAlpine family have had Bill's brother and family visiting them. They are Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy McAlpine and their sons Harry and Bill from Long Beach, Calif. Louis and Odessa Laskie went to Farmington last Saturday to attend a barbecue given by the Farmington Masonic Lodge of ed overnight in Spanish Fork with the Redd's daughter, Ida Markham, and in the Utah Valley Hospital with Mrs. Redd's sister, ilerma Stewart. Mrs. Betty Winders feted her daughter Tesrie on her 6th birthday with a party. Attending were 22 members of her kindergarten class. The fire department was called out Monday about 4:30 when a haystack at Wendell Jones' caught fire but very little damage was done. Miss Denise Blickenstaff enjoyed her 11th birthday with a party at her home Monday evening hostessed by her mother Mrs. Francelle Blickenstaff. Nineteen young ladies enjoyed games and barbequed burgers. Former residents Mr. and Mrs. Harold Morris send word of the birth of their 13th child. Mr. Morris teaches school in Mr. and Mis. Bruce Stevens were among those who attended June Conference last week. They also visited friends and Mis. Stevens' brother, Keith Johnson and family, in Salt Lake City. Fab Detergent BaggieS lum&DiSgSl Members of the staff of Canyonlands National Park and others completed a suc cessful run of the rapids through Cataract Canyon last week and returned to Moab Sunday evening. The party of 14 left Potash Wednesday morning, June 22 in two 33 foot rubber pon -toons. The purpose of the expedition was to train personnel and test equipment to be used in handling rescues which might be necessary in Cataract Canyon, and for general orient atior of the park staff. - Thd! group found plenty of thrills left in the 27 miles of rapids remaining; and although the water was low, conditions were generally ideal for the river run. Overnight stops were made near Indian Creek, Y Canyon, Clearwater Canyon, and the mouth of the Dirty Devil River in Lake Powell. Park Service officials remind us that due to the hazardous nature of the rapids in Cataract Canyon, parties planning on boating through must first obtain a permit from the Superintendent of Canyonlands National Park.
