The couple was called this spring to serve as ordinance workers in the Arizona LDS Temple. Survivors are his wife, Sera-phinsons and daughters: C. USU crew starts ia BLM stabilization contract in Grand Gulch Indian ruin Utah State University crew under the direction of Project Leaders John Hunt and Gordon Keller has, just started work under a Bureau of Land Management contract on the stabilization of Indihn ruins in Grand and Keller have been rigging the access to the gulch. Materials will go in on a 700 foot cable that will carry equipment loads. Crews will walk in to the job although there is one drop where they will use a metal ladder. The crew of 15 arrived last night and spent today undergoing instruction at Mesa Verde National Park. The job, under the Bureau of Land Management contract, calls for stabilization of Indian ruins. Stabilization means protection of the ruins in order to prevent thdir further deterioration from the elements and to preserve them as much as possible in their present state. There will be no excavation on the job and there will be no reconstruction. Bulk p( the work will be in replacing the original clay mortar that has fallen out of the ruins. Mortar to be used is cement and natural sand, with some coloring to match the original clay. Sixteen sites will be stabilized under the contract. Some of the sites contain; f uins of more than one 50-fo- Work in the gulch is about 60 miles southwest of Monticello and about 10 miles south of Natural Bridges. The crew will be occupied for about the next six weeks. Catch Kansas burglars here Three men, accused of burglarizing a service station in Olivet, Kansas, were apprehended here last Wednesday after they attempted to pass a forged check at the American Oil Station. Station operator Dick Auble refused to cash the check and then called the checking station. The men were apprehended by Trooper Bob Low and admitted attempting to pass the check. A considerable amount of material was noted in the auto belonging to the men and after questioning they admitted the Kansas burglary. Kansas authorities were notified, the trio waived extradition and were taken to Kansas Sunday. The men were identified as Dennis Herring, 2L Melvern, Kan.; Jerry Brummott, 22, Bakersfield, Calif.; and a juvenile from Pacific, MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR GEORGE can Hat School at Saturday, July 31. Mr. Hegstrom indicated that he would appreciate recommendations in writing after such meetings are held.
