Htn&toUhi Tax reminder issued to truck owners District Director of Internal Revenue Roland V. Wise today reminded truck and bus owners who have elected to pay their highway use tax in installments that December 31 is the due date for the next payment. A notice of payment due is being sent to these taxpayers. A Form 2290 should be filed on all taxable vehicles by the end of the month following the month they were first used on public highways. However, liability for highway use tax arises only once each year on each taxable vehicle. Therefore, on second hand trucks or buses acquired, the new owner should check to see if the use tax has already been paid by the previous owner for the current year. If it has, the new owner incurs no liability for tax on his use of such vehicle for that year. Mr. Wise reminded truck or bus owners who first became liable for the Federal highw ay use tax in November or who put additional vehicles into operation in November, that returns should be filed for such vehicles by the end of December. The tax may be paid in full by December 31 Legal Notice UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT NOTICE FOR Good health and good fortune to you in the New Year!
