Show Interest poor in Tuesday evening meeting A definite lack of interest in county problems was quite prominent Tuesday evening by the size of the crowd attending the interview with the two Democratic candidates for County Commissioner. The meeting was arranged by the Monticello Chamber of Commerce with the hopes of better acquainting the public with the commissioner candidates in the coming election. At the meeting (held in the courtroom of the courthouse) only 1 7 persons bothered to attend and hear the two men who may or may not be running the affairs of the county in the years to come. This is a very poor percent considering the 9,040 persons in the county. Of this figure ,845 live right here in Monticello. The candidates accepted invitations to the meeting earlier and were sent a list of questions, composed by members of the Chamber, pertaining to county affairs such as: their views on county spending; recreation; the master plan for the county, composed by Holder Engineering Service; purchases made by the county, locally or otherwise; how much 1 LOWBALL POKER One of the easiest Poker variations to master is Lowball, a form of regular five-caDraw Poker in which every pot goes to the lowest hand. In the recent primary election several hundred people took the time to go to the polls and cast their vote. The candidates now are narrowed down to four. Two of these men will be elected in the coming general election on Nov. 8. Do you know how you are going to vote and why? At lowball, straights and flushes are nonexistent. The Ace is always low. A pair of aces ranks lower than a pair of deuces. Anything opens. This is the simplest kind of draw poker and for that reason probably its greatest appeal is to the weakest players: those who believe they never hold good cards. For that reason, it also has a strong appeal to many strong players who are looking for easy pickings. The water shortage in Monticello was somewhat better Thursday morning and the outside watering restriction, which started Monday, was lifted. By Thursday morning the storage was sufficient for outside watering, but the city asks all rpciHpnts rot to water more than 2 to 3 hours a day on their regular watering days. Other business at the Wednesday evening metting was the accepting of a bid for liability and insurance from the equipment Karl R.
