You, and each of you, your heirs, representatives, and assigns, are hereby notified that the United States of America has instituted a contest pursuant to 43 CFR 221, and Title 30 USCA, section 40, against those certain mining claims set forth above situate in the County of San Juan, State of Utah. A complaint has been filed by the United States of America requesting that said mining claims be invalidated and declared null and void on the charge that: (1) The land involved is nonmineral in character; (2) No discovery of valuable minerals has been made in the mining claims. The contests are pending in the Land Office, Bureau of Land Management, Darling Building, Salt Lake City, Utah. Mrs. Melba Lenk, a sister of Harry, Ruel and Earl Randall, visited here with her three children Saturday. Two women friends were also in the party. The travelers are from Denver, and they went on to Mesa, Ariz., to see Mrs. Lenks mother, Mrs. Ethel Randall, and to Joseph City, Ariz. to decorate the grave of Mrs. Lenks husband. Mrs. La Veda Adair underwent an emergency appendectomy at the local hospital Sunday night. The Dale Pohrson family has returned to Monticello to live after making their home in Orem. The John Sullivans, who ' lived in their home here, have purchased a home in the Blue Mountain subdivision which was built by Lee Richey. - 66 SERVICE PHILLIPS Construction Underway On Desert Oil building A new 40x40 concrete block building, belonging to George Bloomfield, is being erected on the south of his present office building on Highway 160 north. It will be used for a service bay for cars and trucks, specializing in diesel truck servicing repairing. Desert Oil Co. will have their office in the present building which will also house the Empress Beauty Salon operated by Meredith Harris. The Bloom-field- s will remodel the present beauty shop into a home for themselves. local youths leave Friday for Boys State Two Monticello Plumbing Monticello Plumbing Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. La parents of Allen Laidlaw, have been visiting here the past week from Monterey Park, Calif. They have taken trips to the Goosenecks and other local points of interest. This weekend the two Laidlaw families will go to Logan where Allen will receive his Master of Science degree in counseling from Utah State University. Cals Down Town Room opens id-la- Vinnie White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W'hite, was chosen by the local American Legion Auxiliary as a delegate to Girls State replacing Eleanor Espinosa who is unable to attend. Ellen Randall, who was selected sometime ago, and Vinnie will attend the meeting which will begin June 10 and last through c June 6. June 18 at the state agricultural Mr. and Mrs. Quinn Jensen and college in Logan. three of their children have been guests at the home of Mr. Jensens parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Line Complete Y. Post No. 26 of the Legion and all expenses are being paid by the post. Qualifications for boys attending Boys State are: above average students, good citizens and ability to get along with people. Purpose is to educate youth in duties, privileges and responsibilities for American citizenship. It is a nonreligious organization. The Wesley McDonald home has been filled with visiting guests recently. Here for two weeks was Mrs. McDonalds mother, Mrs. Manon Smith, Salt Lake City; she was in attendance at the graduation exercises of Scott McDonald from High school and Laurie McDonald from the sixth grade. Other guests arriving later were Mr. McDonalds mother, Mrs. L. W. McDonald, and the McDonalds son, Ronald, and his family from Salt Lake City. Little Mark and Valerie Bradford have been staying here with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Barton, while their mother, Mrs. Nancy Bradford, is recuperating from blood poisoning which developed after she stepped on a nail. The Bradfords were preparing to move into the new home they have built in Orem when the accident happened.
