Jimmy Bennally died in a car accident near Kayenta last week. Larry and his father were returning from Ft. Defiance, Ariz., when Larry lost control of the vehicle. The boy was thrown clear on the first turnover and was not seriously injured. The body of Mr. Bennally was taken to FT. Defiance for burial. Friends of the Bennallys wish to extend their sincere sympathy to the family at this time. Mrs. Anna Pehrson left for Salt Lake City this week where she entered their young son, Kirk, in the childrens hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Partin and family spent their Easter Sunday morning seeing the sights at the Arches National Monument near Moab. The Howard McGhees and the Bill Chapmans motored to Kayenta Sunday. The children enjoyed an egg hunt on the way home. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Thompson had as guests last weekend Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Anders and family, from Uravan, Colo. Mrs. Anders is the twin sister of Mrs. Thompson. The Dale Steermans made a quick business trip to Grand Junction over the weekend. Reverend Burr of Kayenta, assisted Reverend Gordon with the Easter Communion service at the Community church Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pehrson had as weekend guests Nola Junes parents and small sister, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Adair and attended Audrey. The families church Sunday morning where Mrs. Adair was the substitute pianist. The afternoon was spent at a pleasant picnic and egg hunt near Mexican Hat rock. The returned to their home in Sawmill, Ariz., Sunday night, where they manage an Indian trading post for Golden Galigher, who is quite well known in the Blanding area. Walter Finch flew from Boulder, Colo., to Cortez last week where he was met by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Finch. Walter is doing very well in his first year of college where he is majoring in chemical engineering. He took the bus back to school Monday after spending his Easter vacation at home. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hall and family left Wednesday for Idaho where they will make their home near his parents. Mr. Hall has been driving truck for Rasmussens. Friends of Mrs. Hall presented her with a lovely necklace as a going away gift. Mr. and Mrs. Bob McElwain and family went on their first fishing trip of the year Saturday. They went to Cortez where they spent the night at a motel. Dolores. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Harrison had as weekend visitors his brother John and family from Flagstaff. They drove to Aneth Sunday to see another brother before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pinkerton from Albuquerque spent the week end at the home of their nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Davis. Della Van Arsdale is spending a few' weeks here with her son Ralph and family before going on home to Rico. She spent the winter months in Kanab. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Meyers of Rico spent the weekend at their daughters and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Van Arsdale, Jr. The Danny Warren family wrere happy to have Dannys mother with them for a few days. They drove her to her home in New Mexico Saturday. son of the Richrad, Everett Neffs, was quite badly bruised when a truck tire he was repairing blew up. He was taken in the Texas-Zin- c ambulance to the Mission clinic at Goulding Sunday night by Bill Oakes and Floyd Newport. He spent the night there but is reported doing fine. The river seemed to be filled with boats and happy laughing people w'hen five boats were put into the water at Bluff Friday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Maurice and family of four children were among the group. Others in the Maurice party W'ere Alices parents, sister and other relatives of New Mexico, totaling 16. They had a very fine time and are looking forward to another trip soon. A gay note was added to the boat trip Sunday by Mrs. Floyd Newports Easter bonnet. Fern fashioned it of a bright orange straw with a birds nest complete with birds and bright candy eggs. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Warren had as guests for Easter weekend, Carolyn from BYU at Provo and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Buntin and daughters from Moab. The Alonje Club met April 13 with Mrs. Lloyd Duckett as hostess. An Easter theme was carried out, with luncheon served in individual Easter baskets. The group did needlework, discussed forthcoming Mothers Day party. the Newports. Ken Wagner, Morris Brown and Bob Wells. Gaylord Stavely and Don Neff were the boatmen. The Boy Scouts will make the river and surrounding area very much aware of their presence on April 23 and 24, when they will make the trip from Bluff to the Hat bridge.
