Nielson City Clerk Blanding, Utah (First published in The San Juan Record Friday, Feb. 5, 1960. Last published Friday, Feb. 19, 1960) On Bluff City, the Chamber of Commerce is planning on a celebration this spring but details of the event have yet to be worked out. Rusty Musselman is chairman of a committee drawing up plans. Dr. Watson Lacy met with the C of C directors to outline what is needed for the ambulance corp., and a committee was appointed with Bill Huber as chairman to see the county commissioners. The report on the meeting of of the highway commissioners four states occupied a large part of the meeting. It was moved that the editor of the San Juan Record should be censured for the defeatist type of reporting when he said that the McElmo route is out. A motion was made that letters be sent to the various state officials pressing for the McElmo road. The Chamber was told that sources close to the Colorado Commission said that if they would press for that route the connection could still be made at McElmo. It was brought out that the road as presently planned by Colorado would take tourists around the state instead of through it. It was also learned that many oil field supply firms thought that the road would be of little use to them. The need of a bridge across the San Juan River near Bluff City was again brought up and the secretary instructed to contact various agencies to find out what could be done to get this bridge. It was learned that an application for a historical marker had been made by a group for a marker at the site of the First commercial oil well in Utah, this marker to be placed in the Vernal area for a well drilled in 1948. It was pointed out that a gusher i FOUR ',2 CORNERS Bedroom Listings home with $7,700 $420 income apt. house $16,000 Beautiful Trailer Park $17,700 320A Farm $27,000 200x200 Lot $6,300 38 Trailer House Expando $7,500 KENT IVERSON Box 652 Phone JU Monticello, Utah Geo.
