The law, dealing with training and licensing of juvenile hunting license buyers, wras explained in meaning and content by the department today, as follows. Effective date of this act is April 1, 1960. This means there is no change in present requirements covering juvenile hunting licensing Beginning, and after that date a year hence, juvenile hunting license buyers will be required to show evidence of training and qualification prior to purchase of such a license. Specifically, a year hence, the law requires that juveniles ages 14 through 16 will be required to present a certificate showing they have successfully passed a required course in gun safety, training and handling. Same will be true of those persons 17 years of age through 20 years of age, except those of these ages may also qualify by showing evidence of having previously held a hunting license, that they have received such training through the NRA, ROTC, basic military training or comparable courses. The act requires the department to train teachers who will be qualified to give this course. Anticipating this need, the department has carried on such a teacher training program for more than a year wuth the result that some . . .
