Arizona iVicnticello News Briefs Receii es Mission Call Elder Myron (Mike) Soltau has received a call to the Central States LDS Mission. He will enter the mission home in Salt Lake City February 2. Community Concert Date David Abel, noted concert violinist, will be presented in concert February' 11 by the Community Concert Association. Mr. Abels program was previously announced for February 10 but has been changed in order that Community Concert members would be able to attend the performance of the Chanticleers in Cortez on February 10. St. George Reunion Mr. and Mrs. Dan Perkins are in St. George this week for a reunion with two former schoolmates of Mr. Perkins. They are Will Brooks of St. George and Dave Jennings, Logan. The Perkins have planned to do some temple work and visit some of the scenic spots in the St. George area. ''Meet Me at Mutual "Meet Me at Mutual was a successful e'nt Tuesday evening in the Monticello Ward MIA services. A special program was as well as regular classwork. Those attending enjoyed dancing and light refreshments following the event. The "Meet Me at Mural program of the Monticello 2nd Ward will be held Monday, January 19. Special activities are planned with refreshments to be served in the individual classes. Follouing the Sun Mr. and Mrs. DeWitt Lee and two daughters are leaving Saturday for a vacation in a warmer climate. They will spend a week in Mesa, pre-ente- Missionary Returns Mr. and Mrs. A. Jay Redd and son Whitney, spent a few days in Salt Lake City. Whitney, who recently returned from the Spanish-America- n LDS Mission, will be honored Sunday during services of the Monticello 2nd Ward. Larrabee Holyoak Rites Miss Gayle Larrabee became Mrs. Benjamin John Holyoak January 5 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Elder Marion G. Rommey of the Council of the Twelve officiated. A graduate of Monticello High School, the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Lartabee, Moab. Mr. Holyoak is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Holyoak. also of Moab. The newlyweds were honored at a reception Saturday evening at the Moab Ward meetinghouse. Attending the bride were a sister, Mrs. Phyliss Fisher, matron of honor; Miss Dorothy Holyoak, the bridegrooms sister; and Miss Evelyn Parry, Monticello. Weekend at Home Leaving their BYU studies for a weekend at home were Mason Redd, Evelyn Parry, and Jerry Ann Adams. Legislature Convenes Utah State Representative Karl R. Lyman left Saturday for the meeting of the Utah State Legislature which opened Monday. Mrs. Lyman and son, Chad, have been in Salt Lake City since the first of the year, inasmuch as Chad entered school at that time. Banquet at Church A banquet and program was held last Thursday for members of the Senior Aaronic and Elders Quorums of the two Monticello LDS Wards. The program consisted of a song by a group of 9th grade Seminary girls accompanied by Helen Williams; two vocal duets by Corless and Carol Chapman, aceompained by Maxine Frost; and a short talk by Norman Eller-sroDick Williams was master of ceremonies for the occasion. A very large crowd enjoyed the delicious meal and program. On the Move Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Redd and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Boyle and families are moving into the National Lead housing. The house vacated by the Boyle family will be occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Kedric Somerville. Law Making Attorney Donald Adams left Tuesday morning for Salt Lake City for the meeting of the Interstate Commission on Law. The purpose of the meeting is to pinpoint the specific problems of the high school and to examine ways of meeting them within the means of the State and the local districts. For the evening program the various departments of the high school will give a short explanation of their aims and objectives. Air. Kenneth Summers, president of board, will discuss some of the problems o fthe school board and the district administration, will air some of its aims, objectives, and problems. The citizens of Alonticello and surrounding communities are encouraged to attend and contribute their views as to . what the high schools aims and objections should be and how they feel the high school is preparing the local youth for their place in society. On January 22, educators, school board members, and interested citizens are invited to attend a State Conference at Salt Lake Citys Highland high school where Dr. James B. Conant will be the featured speaker. Dr. Conant is known throughout the world for his views and work in education.
