In most Instances your gamble will pay off, but occasionally you will lose. Postmaster Gordon A. Wood, and his postmaster associates all over the country take little notice of the wins. But postmasters everywhere become mighty concerned about the losses, for their Implications are far beyond the value of the money itself. There are rare occasions when most everybody finds the need for sending coins by mail. When this Is so, a coin card should be used or the coins should be fastened by tape to a piece of ordinary cardboard about the size of the envelope. When a choice can be made, however, a check or a money order should be used. These are the proper methods of mailing money under all circumstances. The important reasons for keeping loose coins out of envelopes are obvious. Envelope paper is good for the purposes it is intended to serve, but sometimes gives way to the weight or the wearing action of bits of metal. This is particularly so if the envelope is run through a stamp cancelling machine. When the machine tears the envelope and the coins fall out, the post office which recovers them can neither send them back to their owners, nor on to their destination, for there is no way and there are no methods of Identification. Besides the loss of money by too. Coins are hard on cancelling machines and sometimes cause expensive repairs. If the envelope is hands tamped which it should be and usually Is the cost of processing Is greater than that of processing the conventional without as bulky enclosure much more Important than either of these items is the temtation to trifle which easily detectable money presents to all those through whose hands the envelope passes. So the point is thL: If youre determined to gamble, do so. But dont do it through the mails. letter-Sometlm- es Altar Society Elects Officers for 1958 Angela Thayer was elected president of the St. Joseph Altar Society at its regular meeting held Monday, January 13. G. McIntyre, president of the Four Corners Pipe Line Co. The line will not be completed until February of 1958, but in the meantime 1,020,000 barrels of crude will be required to fill gathering lines, the trunk line and working storage. McIntyre said. Line fill will continue on an intermittent basis as oil is needed to displace water used in testing each completed section of the line. Construction of the system is progressing satisfactorily, McIntyre said, with the line nearly completed from Southern Utah to the State lines. Work Is also under way In certain sections of California. An overhead crossing of the Little Colorado River at Cameron Ariz., is completed, and the underwater crossing of the Colorado near Needles, Calif., will be finished in the near future. Shell Pipe Line Corp. is constructing and will operate the line as agent for its owners, Continental Pipe Line Co., Gulf Oil Corp., Richfield Oil Corp., Shell Oil Co., Standard Oil Co. of Calif., and Superior Oil Co. 750-mil- Arlzona-Callforni- EXCELLENT FOOD SERVICE FOR YOUR DINNER PLEASURE e Closed Saturdays Open 5 a.m. To Midnight a MONTICELLO, UTAH PHONB 130R3 0 stiff-legge- Bar-M-Ba- r. hoof-beat- s Boot-Hil- l, hol-ster- Bar-M-B- SPECIALS Bar-tel- l, INFANTS WEAR COME IN AND SEE THE ' America's most V impressive bourbon...
