Over six million rainbow trout eggs have now been taken from late fall and early winter spawning stock at the Utah Department of Fish and Games Kamas and Springville hatcheries. The figures show 2,726,440 such eggs taken at the Kamas plant and 3,767.520 at the Springville facility. The department said only a portion of these rainbow eggs remain at these two plants. The balance are distributed for processing to others of the twelve department owned hatcheries over the state. A major share will be planted as legals during 1957. A smaller number will be planted as advanced fingerling and legals following late summer sorting at the various plants. Department Director J. Perry Egan noted that the next several months was one of the busiest periods of the year at all state hatcheries as the trout are being processed and reared for the coming 1956 season and 1957 as well. He again welcomed individuals and groups interested in the states fishery program to plan a visit to any of the twelve hatcheries. He said superintendents at each of the plants welcomed such visits and noted that arrangements for group tours could be made upon request. The twelve state hatcheries are located at Beaver, Fountain more rainbow from private hatcheries, both within and outside the state, are also being processed at the hatcheries as continuing shipments arrive from these sources during the current busy hatchery season. The department of fish and game said this was the fifth year of a continuing program to establish this salmon in several of Utahs waters. The kokanee is an addition to and compliments trout species m the waters where they have been planted. Thy are the only salmon having a full life cycle in fresh water. Under favorable conditions they reach an average size of fourteen to fifteen inches in the third or fourth year of growth. Since they spawn in tributary streams during the furth or fifth year, the departments plan calls for consecutive plants during each of five years in an effort to establish yearly spawing stocks in all water planted. Home Buyers To Be Given Thirty Years To Repay Home Buyers, whose loan guaranteed or insured by the Veterans Administration or the Federal Housing Administration, can have 30 years in which to repay their loans, effective January 17, 1956, VA and FHA have announc- ed. Since July 30, 1955, the maximum permissible maturity on VA insured guaranteed and FHA loans had been limited to 25 years. The two agencies pointed out that although 30 years is now the maximum maturity of government backed home loans, the final decision as to the terms of the loans is subject to agreement between the borrowers and the private lenders making the loans. The two percent down payment requirement on GI loans and the added two percent requirement on FHA insured loans will remain in effect. The July 30 action was taken primarily to avoid of credit and to help protect the home buyer against inflationary increases in residential price property.
