The equipment, amounting to $100, will enable the local hospital to determine if certain hlood types will mix without injury to the patient. It was learned that the equipment, installed a short time ago has already been responsible for saving the life of one patient, during a transfusion, by a transfusion, by determining that blood slated to be used for the transfusion would not mix with the patients blood and could have caused the patients death. To date, the chairman cf the committee in charge of the program, L. W. Misner, has collected $70 of the necessary $100 through donations by the following individuals ana merchants: Riley Drug, L. W. Misner, Bob Christensen, Loren Oviatt, Implement Center, Monticello Merc Western Mine Supply, City Merc Bailey and Wood, Southwestern Gas and Appliance Co., Nielson, and H. A. Johnson. The survey, which will be made in conjuction with Monticello city officials, is being conducted to find the conditions throughout the town, which are a hazard to the health of the people. The Department of Health will attempt to locate all unsanitary conditions and will then recommend to the city officials that they be removed. According to Robert Burgener District Sanitarian, it is the opinion of the Utah State Health Department, that with so many residents coming into the city, it will be easier to correct such conditions now, before they have an opportunity to snowball into major health problems. A similar survey, made at Moab in August, showed the importance of making such surveys in places where the popu- lation is rapidly growing.
