TOOK THE JUDGE SERIOUSLY incident probably cured jurist of the use of sarcasm lord bowen an english judge of 0 renown w as trying a case ot of burglary with a welsh jury and it was wag argued for the defense that the prisoner WAS in the habit of walking on the housetops at midnight and had bad merely taken oft off his boots and dropped into the th house bouse out of curiosity in bumming up bowen said to the jury it you believe that the prisoner considers the bouse housetops toPs the proper place for an evening aroll that the desire to inspect the inside ot of the houses was but a natural and excusable curios curiosity it T you will acquit him and will approve bis big conduct in showing so much consideration as to take off his boots tor for tear fear of disturbing the sleepers the irony was lost on the jury they took him seriously and acquitted the prisoner
