The result is the death of a goo! old man autf the murderer incarcerated in jail with unmistakable symptoms of an unbalanced mind. Great preparations bad been made by the good citizens of Levan for the purpose of celebrating Pioneer day. A procession bad been formed composed of a number of prominent men specially' designated to d represent the old Mormon battalion. Previous to the commencement of the parade, in order to prevent accidents, it is said, every gun carried was subjected to a rigid examination, Hendricksons gun, for some unaccountable reason escaping the rigid inspection. When opposite the Co-o- p store, Tonbridge was directing the boys were to go and it was during these orders that Hendrickson came galloping up and w'hcu behind the old gentleman fired the fatal shot ended the old mans life. While the details of the occurrence differ, the result showed a d premeditation on the part of the murderer. It was stated that w hen he rode behind Tunbride he said something which caused the old gentleman to half turn round when the fatal shot was fired, but whetliere such was really the case has not received verification. Another report has it that lie .told his wifu that there wrere several whom he intended to kill and that Tunbridge was the first one. Several years ago Hendrickson shot and attempted to kill lias Christenson for some grievance of long standing but wms not prosecuted because it was known that his mind was unbalanced. When he was being brought hv $ u p yy m consumed the 3 and F. n. oclock until time " o'clock and Richards closed at the case went to the jury, who re turned into court at 9.'U) with a verdict for defendant, finding no cause of action. A night session of the court was held Thursday to hear arguments on motion for a new trial in the case of the statu vs. Stephen Edwards, convicted of adultly.
