Show TIIE REPUBLIC. ISSUED -- EYl L IT MORNING DAY I VV. CJItor and Manager. ormc. Assistant. L. ROF, ALF Tunis QaeYtur v sjii'CiumoN: $2 00 It Is said that in out form cf government the officer.- - are serv-- ' ants of the peopl-- , and when we deposit our ballots at the polls we jiersuade our-e- h es that wo are vot- ing 'or officers who will well serve the country aud the people, but how they do fool us. The reason for this is easily solved. We do not ileliberahly look imv the held and chose from aunngth useful au I who have the welfare of their fellow men at heart, and press them into service, hut we permit the political schemers to force themselves upon us. Before election time, these fellows drum the hoys up, and make their arrangements fur a distribution of the taxes among themselves and tlieir supporters. They have their secret meetings and plan for the primaries. The ticket is made beforehand and when the primary meeting opens we find the office seekers there with their program which they spedily perf irrn by electing themselves and their prospective appointees to the nomination conventions where they nominate themselves to office and come back and ask the people to be true to their party ticket which has been duly and regukirly made. They then go to woik and whoop up the comparga. They preach vote the ticket straight, and the writer has heard good I would vot for partizans say, a yellow dog if he were on my party ticket, damn a man who wont stick to his party, and these fellows look real honest too, and they shake hands with everybody before election. Tim writer believes a little more ;ht is dawning upon the public and we have discovered that the Nephi City council lias little to do with the passage of tariff and civil service reform bills. u nimlttre select a large lh;ror.,h inn ligation t UcrnMai. letters should cAi ror i!. in ts tu i . b aild n M tl io T'i K ,ullu PiibliKbxug Co. 2?phi, J 11.1L 1 1 uni , Utah.
