Show RICH COUNTY REAPER. RANDOLPH. UTAH. UtaH Mine Will AN INDIAN STORY LAKETOWN Continued From Page One) Relatives from the tribe attempted to supply him with clothes and a shelter, but he burned the blankets and the tepee, preferring to forage for himself. As the years rolled on, Inipicut developed an amazing resistance to the elements, often sleeping burrow animal-ai.- e in snow drifts, cr lying near-nake- d on the frozen surface. It is reported that several times passing White chopped his hair loose when it had become iiozen to the ground. After a few years Inipicut abandoned all clothing, refusing even to wear a breach clout. The naked savage so upset the region that government agents attempted to take him o the asylum at Provo. During vhe jouney he escaped and outran their horses back to his former abode. years, For more than twenty-fiv- e Inipicut maintained his exile in the hills two miles north of Whiterocks, ranging over the countryside in search of food, and sunning the society of his fellows. He died in 1917, and like so many rugged indiviualists whose mental workings remain a mystery to the weald, his life has passed into the hnr.be of legend, and many fantastic uries of his exploits circulate hither and yon through the Uintah region. It is reported that he could outrun any human ever known, and many times distanced horses, even on short laps. Native Whites in the region, maintain that be had one time murdered a member of his tribe, and that his long exile was in expiatipn of his crime. The Indians of today carefully avoid the spot where Inipiculs ragged tepee stood for so many years, answering all queries with Heap bad spirit live there. u Make Own ( Word reached here last week yf the death of Mercy Weston Gibbon?, S7, of Logan, but who was a former long time resident of Laketown.
