The phenomenon was a marrlago flight of ants, such as always takes place In the summer. The ants thus swarming wore young queens and w Ingel males. In these marriage millions of ants tako countless flights part, yet the noise of their tiny vibrating wings Is scarcely as loud as tho hum of a bee. So frail are their denso columns that a little puff of wind will dlsperro them out of sight. Comparatively few of tho myriads which come forth from their nest Into tho air live to enter a nest again. Practically all the males die, lonely and shelterless. The surviving queens found new communities, or, entering old nests, arc at once taken care of by the workers, and start now colonies in their old nursery. A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Is the sink. The great danger copper-linelri the porcelain and enameled sinks Is the breaking of delicate china and glass. The copper lining is much the best for that. The wooden drain boards tipping slightly toward the sink are a great convenience. Frequently rubber mats with roughened surface are placed In these to keep the dishes from slipping. There are, bedish sides, wire and nickel-platedrainers, which will keep the plates separated one from another while draining. Harpers Bazar. d d u"' A Good J r! Antiseptic. Boric a;Id and boraclc acid are the same. Every housekeeper should have on hand a supply of this very useu,f antiseptic. For burns it is unusually excellent. Drop two ounces of the boric acid crystals In a glass quart jar and fill with water. This makes a saturate solution. Take a piece of gauze or cheesecloth, saturate with the solution and lay on the burn. Apply very moist, covering with absorbent cotton and then with oil silk. This will keep moist for 12 hours, for the oiled silk will prevent evaporation. If you havent the boric acid use a solution of bicarbonate of soda, which is nearly as good. Professional Handicaps.
