The EECA provides an analysis of all remedial alternatives considered and describes the final closure action chosen for the MPS. The EECA is also available for public review at the City of Green River Public Library. The MPS is in the former motor facility, just east of Building Analysis of soil samples collected in and around the sump revealed various contaminant concentrations cadmium, lead, molybdenum, and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), resulting from vehicle maintenance activities, that exceed d human health (residential) and ecological exposure concentrations as established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) and accepted by the Utah Department of Environmental Quality (UDEQ). These contaminants were the result of various automotive fluids and lubricants released into the sump. This data lead to the conclusion that the MPS required some type of remedial (or cleanup) action. considered for the MPS included: (1) no further action; (2) backfill, capping and drain closure; (3) soil removal and offsite disposal, backfill and drain closure; and (4) risk assessment and drain closure. The U.S. Army selected alternative (3) - soil removal and disposal, backfill and drain closure - as the final closure action at the MPS. This alternative provides for complete and clean closure of the MPS, eliminating any potential exposure pathways that would promote risk to human health and the environment.
