Show Girls lose to Carbon to out of playoff picture drop over Richfield last After out a victory: pulling 10-to keep their hopes alive fora state tournament berth, the Lady Spartan softball team dropped an 11 1 game at Carbon on Friday. That put the Emery; record in region at 6 and pretty much dashes the teams hopes of going to state. After falling behind 0 to the Lady Cats in the top of the first inning, Emery cut into the lead with a run in the bottom of the first; That came on hits by. Heidi Kay, Jaime Monfredi and Jessica Oveson. Emery took the lead in the bottom of.the second inning as Monfredi, Misty Warner, Michelle Baird: and: Amy. Childs each singled to help the Lady Spartans push across fourrun to give the team a 3 lead.;: Richfield scored one run in the third, but Emery had another good atbat in the bottom of the inning by scoring three, runs as, Warner singled ahead of a double by Baird.:. To add some insurance to their lead, Emery scored lone runs in the fourth and fifth Doubles by Childs and Christy Jo Anselmo accounted for the run in the fourth while Mary Brinkerhoff s double in the fifth led to the Emery run as the Lady Spartans held the lead 1 :: Richfield scored three in the sixth to cut the lead to 1 but the Emery defense shut out the visitors in the seventh to take the win. At Carbon on Friday, Emery found itself down 0 through the first three innings as the Lady Dinos ripped Emery pitching for three singles and a pair of home runs. :The Lady Spartans finally got on the board in the fourth when Oveson got a single and then scored on a Jamie Jeffs double. The senior made the decision Sunday night and sent in the papers Monday. Grant was recruited by a number of area schools, including Salt Lake Community College, Snow, College of Eastern Utah and Utah Valley State College. After making a campus visit to Dixie and meeting with head coach Dave Rose, Grant made the decision to play for the Rebels this coming season.
