M Jakes Place offers new area dining The clo, HUNTINGTON sure of the Old Homestead Restaurant north of Hunting-to- n several months ago was a loSs to many locals who enjoyed the food, location and atmosphere of the locally-owne- d diner. Now area residents can more elegant dining experience. The challenge at Jakes Place is to meet that need. Jakes Place will offer specials not currently available in Emery County to dress things up. The specials include dishes from the Orient and Mexico as well as American favorites such as prime rib. In addition, the menu features breakfast items, lunch items and other dinner selections. Rolene Justice, Waynes wife, says that one ofthe popular menu items is The Works an burger with fries. With a variety of selections, Jakes Place is hoping to entice the blue collar worker, the businessman, the office employee, families and couples to the restaurant. And speaking of Price, the management says that Jakes Place will now serve the needs of fhose in Emery County who have been going to Price for a ; Christmas is a time to be joyful and a time to be with family and loved ones, but for many patients without families at the Utah State Hospital and Wasatch Mental Health, Christmas can be the loneliest time of the year. Each year the hospital recruits sponsors for over 260 patients, ranging from 6 to 90 years of age, who would have no Christmas without the help of the community. The Forgotten Patient Christmas Project is quite often the only touch holiday spirit these patients experience. Please feel the spirit of giving this holiday season and sponsor a forgotten patient. The those who havent got the time to eat at the restaurant, the business provides for delivery and catering. Arrangements can be made for banquets, birthdays, anniversaries, civic organization meetings and other special occasions. Jakes Place employs nearly a dozen workers, helping to boost the local economy. One of those employees is cook Danny Trevison, Ferron, who restaurant is located north of Huntington at the site of the Old Homestead Restaurant. 373-440- has been cooking since he was in high school in 1975. His experiences have included work at restaurants in Arizona and California as well as Utah. Its a nice menu, Mr. Trevison said of the Jakes Place offerings. I think itll be a real good dinner house for .the people of this area. The new Utah Tourism and Recreation Information Center (UTRIC), located in historic Council Hall on Capitol Hill in Salt Lake City, is open seven days a week to better serve tbfrneeds of visitors and residents. 'Wooley, director of the Utah Travel Council, says the center is the first of its kind in the state to offer information, road and weather conditions, maps and brochures at one location. Visitors may also receive information for making reservations to selected campgrounds throughout the state as well as get free information i,fjom,,qach.,oltha representa-ntive- s f the.; participating agencies, says Wooley. The Zion Natural History Association will operate a sales outlet as part of the back-count- ry information center to further enhance the interpretive and educational aspects ofthe visitors experience. Many items currently found only in visitor centers are available at the new UTRIC.
