Initial action against Collard was filed by the plaintiffs on Nov. 10, 1983, but after several Ih-ann- a 23-2- 4 y changes in trial dates, the trial was not held until nearly two years later. In the civil acUon complaint, the two teachers charged that Collard had made remarks "seeking to deprive the plaintiffs of their own good names, reputations and means of livelihood and to bring plaintiffs in disrespect among their students, and colleagues, Item . Although the initial filings asked for $25,000 in general damages and $100,000 in punitive damages for each plaintiff, the amounts were not discussed during the trial. DAVIS Progreit editor A Ferron man has been ordered to serve 90 days in the Emery County Detention Center, pay $100 in restitution, and serve 18 months of probation after he pleaded guilty to distribution of cocaine, a second degree felony. David Roger Taylor, 20, was sentenced In district court on Sept. 26 by Judge Boyd Bunnell. He pleaded guilty to the cocaine charge on Sept. 4 after a plea bargain eliminated two counts of distribution of marijuana. The charges came after his arrest May 28 during a countywide drug bust by state and 91-43- D because of the felony conviction and because of the negative elements of the report. He noted the defendants unemployed instatus, his his cidents as a minor, and extensive involvement with the juvenile court. Saying that the sale of cocaine is a serious matter, the judge ordered Taylor to serve one to 15 years in prison and added an probationary period. However, he stayed the prison time in favor of the jail sentence. Also, Taylor was ordered to pay $100 in restitution to the state to reimburse the state for money it paid him for the purchase of drug-relate- d th narcotics.
