Show 4A Emery County Progress Wednesday, November 12, 1980 Emery County Veterans deserve our praise Tuesday ; was Veteran's Day throughout the country. This is a day that each individual should pause I and think of all the lives that have been given up in : battle for freedom, either for America or any other : country in the world. : This day should be more than a time to fly the flag : at the city park, off a porch or over graves of dead heros. Someone once said that in war heros are the dead soldiers, not the ones who make it home. Almost true. It is about time America realized what freedoms it has. A list composed of the many rights and privileges abundant in the nation wouldn't be too hard to : ; compile. However, each citizen should take a moment and . reflect on their own blessings that this great land ' has given them. The great freedom's and ad- vantages. : : : Each should be greatful for this time of peace for our country and should pray for peace throughout the land. War is not glamorous. It was only five years ago that the last of the armed forces invovled in the Viet Nam conflict were brought home. How quickly we forget the hear- taches and only remember the good ti mes. Complex components part of home choice off the cuff . by jim 4)lsen Have you ever had one of ; those days? I have been In one for the past week or two. I feel like I have been living a verse out of John Denver's song about Toledo Ohio. He says something to the effect that he ; spent a week there one day. Try as might, it took several efforts to get a picture of the new store in Castle Dale. know don't why I couldn't do it write! The first time went was when the new manager, Kevin Perkins, and his clerk, Susan Shope were opening boxes and stocking the shelves. It would have made a classy picture. Especially when am trying to avoid the "Stand 'em up and shoot 'em down" syndrome. But to my dismay, I failed to put film in my camera before went to the assignment. That's almost like going hunting without any ammo, or fishing without any bait. Well, embarrassed to death, went back and shot Shope helping some customers. Good shot you say? Yes, had film in my camera. In my haste to save embarrassment, I didn't check my light meter. What Is that saying, "haste makes waste." How about the one that says "The hurrier get the behlnder I get"? Well finally had to settle for an exterior shot. i X I I I 7-- I I I I I I I To add to my insult, mispelled my neighbor's name I again. While trying to highlight a local trick - or - treater, didn't catch the typo error on Chuck Ryan's name in last week's issue. had to call him I I "Chuch" during Sunday Have you ever wondered if somebody else knew more about your name than you did? My grandmother always said that if landed in her flower garden while jumping from her porch my name would be MUD. And then there was the election results in last week's issue. It was great having the tallies in the paper during the same week. It would have been better if I knew how to run a calculator. The precinct totals were right, but the grand totals were off base. And did you notice that the ballot questions only totaled 180 at the most? Production goofed that one. But what do you expect after a 24 hour stint waiting for one of the smallest towns in the county to call in meetings. I their results? To end the "cuff" would like to pay special tribute to the town that kept myself and other people waiting for results awake until the wee hours of the morning. Thank you Emery. The profuse y k i i outpouring of fluid carries the virus outside the body. A runny nose is often caused by pollens or other materials in the air. This problem will last longer than viral infection, often for weeks or months, but it occurs only during the season that the pollen particles or other allergens are in the air. Hence, nicknames like hay fever have been applied to this condition. Hay itself does not usually cause a runny nose, but ragweed is a frequent culprit. Complications from the runny nose are due to the excess mucus. The mucus may cause a post nasal drip and cough which is most prominent at night. A great many substances, including house dust3 and animal danders can cause this problem. The mucus drip may plug the Eustachian tube between the nasal passages and the ear, resulting in ear infection and pain. It may plug the sinus passages, resulting in secondary sinus infection and sinus pain. Two major types of drugs are used to control a runny nose. Decongestants such as ephedrine, and pseudoephedrine act to shrink the mucus membranes and to open the nasal passages.
