Show "Annie tops list of Tony nominations Annie," which brings musical life to the beloved Little Orphan Annie of comic strip immortality, tops the list of Tony Award nominations this year with 10, followed by the musical Love My Wife and a revival of George Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, with six each. The nominations for the American Theatre Wing's 1977 Antoinette Perry (Tony) Awards were announced after being selected by 11 theatre journalists and professionals appointed by the League of New York Theatre & Producers. Nominations in the 19 categories including a new category for Most Innovative Production of a Revival will be voted on by approximately 486 members of the theatrical profession. The results will be announced on the live presentation of the 31st Annual Tony Awards on the ABC Television Network, Sunday, June 5 (8:00 p.m.) from the stage of the Shubert Theatre in New York. Among the stars who will serve as hosts this year are (in alphabetical order) Jack Albertson, Jane Alexander, Buddy Ebsen, Damon Evans, Vivian Reed and Jean Stapleton. Alexander H. Cohen will produce the Tony Awards broadcast for the 1 1 th consecutive year and the show will be written, also for the 1 1 th time, by Hildy Parks. The 1977 Tony Nominating Committee consisted of John Beaufort of the Christian Science Monitor, Harold Clurman of The Nation, Martin Gottfried of the New York Post, Claude Lewis of the Philadephia Bulletin, Paul Myers of the Theatre Collection of the New York Library, Seymour Peck of the New York Times, Joan Rubin of Playbill, Marilyn Stasio of Cue Magazine, Alan Wallach of Newsday, Douglas Watt of the New York News, and Edwin Wilson of the Wall Street Journal.
