The girls basketball team from Emery won two im- Last Thursday the Emery High basketball team lost a close game to the Moab Red Devils at Moab. The game was a close one, but Moab spilled out ahead to win in the end 68 - 63. The high portant games last week. first was against Moab, at Moab on Wednesday, Feb. 11, by a score of 34 - 20. Emery led all through the game in what was a surprisingly easy victory for the Emery girls. This was an important game for the team because it will count in the seatings at the Region The scorers for Emery were Dallin Law with 17 points and Lonie Zwahlen, a sophomore, with 13 points. The Emery Spartans JV team also lost to the Moab JV by a score of 59 - 50. Emery will be playing at home tonight, Feb. 19, tournament. So far the girls team at Emery has gone through the season winning all eight of their games. Last weekend region wrestling was held at Delta. Emery took Rick Allred, Demar Guymon, Darrell Gardner, Roger Humphrey, Mike Loveless, Cal Jensen, Carr Harvey and Joe Nelson, but only Mike Loveless placed high enough to be advanced to the state tournament, to be held this weekend Feb. 20 and 21, at Moab. Mark has recently been chosen as a counselor in the Monroe Bishopric. Former Emery County High School Coach Bob Steele and family were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Brent Arnold the past weekend. Geary Peacock, of Denver, Colo., brothers and returned and both missionaries students at BYU, spent the weekend here with their grandmother Mrs. Neva Jensen and attended ward conference here. Judy and Richard Hansen and children of Tooele spent the weekend here with their grandmother Naomi Jensen and aunt Valoy and Kenneth Cox. Mrs. Maerene Hodson and Mrs. Carrie Jean Jones were honored guests at a baby shower given for the two ladies and their new babies by Mrs. Shannon Bacon and Mrs. Gerilyn Mathis at the Mathis home, Thursday, Feb. 12. The South Emery Junior High School Band under the direction of their insturctor, Dennis Bacon, won first place at the district band contest held at CEU present. Mr. and Mrs. Van J. Gardner drove to Delta the past weekend, to attend the wrestling matches of the region. Toms son Roger, and Vans son Darrell are scheduled for the tryouts to go to state. Also wrestling is Price, Friday, John David Wickman, son Feb. 6.
