Show Thursday Not. Grandpa Moses Tucker Editorial A County man reminisces on 92nd birthday plan to avert panic The need for 3 responsible spokesman at the mines and construction projects in the county often irises. Friday morning the Utah Power and Light Ambulance cruised through Castle Dale sounding sirens. A call to Jelco office at Emery Plant two hours later inspired the answer: no statement. Four days later the same answer: No statement. Call Utah Power and Light Public Relations office in Salt Lake. We did. They knew little of the Incident but promised to find out. What a roundabout way of suppressing news of public interest. And what is the solution? American Coal has solved the problem by hiring a public relations expert to give the truth to the press as soon as next of kin is notifed in order to spike rumors and prevent Start Grandpa talking the timber and then we'd and the memories flow "Why did they name me Moses? They figured I'd live as old as he was, so thats the name I got ... I had some of the best traveling little ponies on the buggy. I could make it as fast as the train was goin for quite a few miles. They never did break a trot ... As kids we had to herd cows. Wed ride our ponies to take the cows to the bench below the cedars, turn em loose and the rest of the day was ours. Wed ride on top of Gentry mountains, V wholesale hysteria. The increased county industrialzation is bound to result in some accidents regardless of safety measures. Why cannot Utah Power and Light and Peabody mines appoint a local spokesman for such incidents? Such action would certainly improve relations with the local press. The Public Voice In them days of bears and mountain lions, get lost it was scary sometimes . , My work team when I was ploughin' I never did crowd . em. I could two plough acres in eight hours and that was long enough to work a team .. Used to talk to em just like I do to you .... I had two mules, Peggy and Beck, just as gentle as horses. I learned em to cut cattle. I broke em right .... I took care of the cemetery for thirty five years, biggin graves by hand .. There was a white clay and you could take a stick and couldnt drive it in that far (indicating length of finger) .. Had to scale it off and gather it out of the grave ... I had a 100 head of cattle at one time and a permit on the mountains and a 100 head of sheep. The coyotes got into my sheep and I got into the coyotes. The bullets hitting on all sides and the coyote jumping sideways. Never could get one. Thems the hardest thing to hit there is. Now old Prince ... wife and Moses Florence owned the first car in Cleveland. A 1910 Chevrolet, but that car could never hold a candle to Slap in the face you a few years to realize this. Dear Editor This is in response to Mrs. have children and Id imagine their share of lihodes letter last week. The first part of the letter was fine and the new teachers we have are great, but I feel that a slap in the face was given to the rest of the teachers, which by the way are very good teachers also. Personally I think they need a pat on the back not someone calling them a liar n a public paper. After all they could go to the mines or into work such as your husband or mine and make a lot more money and not put up with this kind of baloney. I have yet to send a note to school saying that my child has been sick and could they please stay in that it hasnt been honored. I have also just happened to be riding by the school (not deliberately been sitting there watching every move they make) and saw my little darling out running without a coat on. We like to think our children are perfect but they arent and neither will yours be Mrs. Rhodes. It might take Everyone the teachers of doctor bills, but when a child is well they need to get out for recess and run off the excess energy or they would probably be impossible to teach. I believe there are probably a lot of times a teacher doesnt dare tell a parent the truth about their child for fear of being torn to pieces or called a liar. Maybe if we as parents would get our heads out of the sand we could avoid some of the problems we may get when our children become teenagers. Renee Wilcox Too strong a word? Editor: It was Saturday afternoon, Nov. 15, at approximately 3:15 when a heedless driver snuffed out the life of Baggin. From the of her body position alongside the street, this careless driver had to have been either too blind or drunk to have been out of doors-le- t alone behind the wheel of a car. This street Moses Tucker all day and come back play and gather the cows and go home. Wouldnt go to school if I could get out of it We used to have skatin for our fun in winter. Play games on skates. In summer we had saddle horses and wed gather up a bunch of girls and wed sure have a time. Wed get the girls in on which this small bit of happiness lived is one having a completely clear view, no curves, no and certainly no breath-takinviews to distract a careful drivers attention. Anyone having the capabilites of driving could have seen that small dog standing along the edge of her mobile lot home. One gets the distinct impression it was a deliberate murder! So you think murder is too strong a word for the death of a dog? Think about it for a minute.
