Burial Orangeville City cemetery. Cut the high cost of Giving TaExe Because the costs of having a big elec- tric generating station ready to serve you go on whether it's working or not. It's like this. In the summertime, when imgation pumps and air conditioners are hum& ming, people are using Utah Power Light Company for all they're worth. Usmg us so much that we have to build and man and operate new generating stations over and above those built to take care of normal wintertime growth just to keep pace with our customers' summertime demand. Then comes winter. And your demand for power drops. And thus, in the winter, we have generating equipment that isn't working full time. Isn't making electricity... or not as much as it could. For example, in the winter of 1972 there was some 100,000 kilowatts of such unused equipment... enough to generate power to heat about 15,000 homes. We still have to pay financing costs on that equipment and maintain it whether it is used or not. And the only place we can get the money to do so is from our customers. That's why we do and you should-wo- rry about "unbalanced demand"... because it's things like this that push up costs and rates for electricity. So we're doing all we can to solve the problem. And the solution is obvious: sell more power in the wintertime to help balance the summer demand. Put that equip-meso it can to work all pay for itself. That's why we promote electric home, heating. And that's why, whenever someone selects electnc heat, he makes life easier for everybody. Because by operating our equipment at a higher level in the wintertime, he's helping us keep our rates down. Its safe to say that that's something every one of us wants. KEY TO A BETTER ENVIRONMENT off this nt year-roun- d, uich pounffiligM ccmponij ELECTRICITY advantage Fri. Sot. & CVlon. 16 - 17 - 19 |
