Show TUkdlt $173,000 recovered in welfare payments During the first four months of 1970, the Legal Recoveries Section of the ptah Division of Family Services recovered $173,831 in welfare payments! Approximately 90 percent of the amount was derived from delinquent child support payments and 10. percent from fraudulent receipt of public assistance. This compares with total collections of $67,940 for same the period in 1969, representing an increase of $105,685 in collections the first four months of this year over 1969, according to Richard P. Lindsay, Division Director. Approximately 70 percent of persons receiving assistance in Utah qualify for the Aid to Families with Dependent Children Program. The couple are attending Brigham Young University. Janet will graduate Iht Old lim&fc in August with a degree in Elementary Education. Mr, Willey will complete his pre-la- w course of study" at the BW next year. He served an LDS mission in Eastern Canada. They are making plans for an August 15th wedding. 1 The Navy Recruiting Office in Provo announced today that the Navy is offering an advanced pay grade and automatic advancement in rate for those applicants qualified for training in the Nuclear Power or advanced Electronics Fields. Chief Louis Dill ATC, USN states that High School Graduates entering the Navy for training in Nuclear Power or Advanced Electronics will be enlisted at Pay grade E- -3 rather than E- -l and will automatically advance to Third Class Petty Officer upon graduation from their first fundamental schpol. They will then be sent to approximately 14 months additional schooling in one of the Navy's finest training programs. This guaranteed schooling is available to High School graduates who wish to get training in a field that will be of great value to them upon their return to civilian industry. For further information on any of the Navy's Programs contact the Navy Recruiting Office in Room 111 of the Federal Office Building in Provo.
