Oo Ohe "Editor vivc is to learn how to become a defensive driver. The Defensive Driving Course an eight hour program which teaches the driver the evasive techniques in accident is available to all licensed prevention operators in Utah. We do not imply that the senior citizen is a poor driver; however, when we see repeated incidents where they have become the victim of a fatal accident their safety becomes our concern. If they could become better drivers by completing this course, then the number of accidents in which they arc often the innocent victims could be lessened in the State. Our office would be most happy to discuss the possibility of offering to your group the Defensive Driving Course. While other drivers pay a registration fee of $5.00, knowing that most of our senior citizens are on retirement income, the individual registration fee would bq cut to $3.00 for a class of 30 students. We have fixed costs in this course, the instructional materials and teaching aids, etc. , and this fee covers our expenses. If it would be possible to meet v itli you to discuss this further, we would appreciate you advising our office and setting the date for such a meeting. i t Dear Editor, The following letter was received from the Northwest Accrediting committee, accrediting Emery County High School for the 8th consecutive year. George Conover Emery County Senior Citizens' Center Castle Dale, Utah 84513 Dear Mr. Conover: The changes in the last two decades which drivers face in the operation of an automobile are frightening. The increase in automobile registration, drivers and many more miles of freeway make driving today much more complex than was experienced just a few years ago. How best can we face these everyday complexities that we must as we drive the freeway, choked with automobiles, operated by drivers, who in most instances, possess the techniques of the 30 s? If we are to survive, then we must become something more than just 'good drivers'we must become better drivers who know the art of survival in today's us.
