It is necessary at this time to register as many entries as possible in order to represent Miss Emery County in the Miss Utah, Miss America Pageants.1 The Miss Emery County Pag- eant is slated for April 30 at the Emery County high school. There are undoubtedly many County who girls in Emery could qualify and would enter if they could be discovered. Any person, group or organization knowing of such a girl please contact VeRee Cox at the Car-- 1 bon Emery Bank in Castle Dale , so that the girl can be properly interviewed and registered, or have them pick up an applica-wh- o tion blank at the high school fice. These applications specify the necessary rules to enter, After filling out this form send it to Joe Mason, Price, Utah, Carbon Emery Bank. Girls competing in the Miss Emery County Pageant have the opportunity to wm a $75 Jaycee scholarship, a trophy and all xpenses paid by the Price Jaycees to the Miss Utah finals. Winner of the Miss Utah title is a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship and a guaranteed $300 to $10,000 scholarship at the National Miss America finals, In addition to these scholarshivs much more is gained on a per sonal level. The girls competing in these events gain self confidence, poise, social contact, public recognition, inspiration and more. The Price Jaycees have undertaken this project with the help of Pepsi Cola to represent Emery County in the state and national events. Much work is involved in a pageant and the Price Jaycees would appreciate all the cooperation from Emery County that they can get. The first requirement of a local pageant is to register enough girls in a community necessary to conduct a pageant. So lets get these girls out of their shells and give them the opportunity .they deserve to compete for Miss Emery County. Observer A four county group met at Green River February 19 and selected the following group to act as their representative and executive committee to form a Regional Group for the purpose of administration and coordination of the various Community Action Programs, as outlined under the Office of Economic Opportunity. The following individuals are from the counties of Carbon, Emery, Grand and San Juan. Ken Tinna Willis, Blanding; Summers, Monticello; Rell f, Monticello; Floyd Emery; Drannan Seeley, Huntington; Ken Silliman, Green River; Lillian McCor-micElmer Dravage, Moab; Moab; Richard Parsons, Moab; Harry Manps, Price; Arnold Costello GuzMathis, Price; man, Price, and Nick Coless-ideGovernors Office, State of Utah. This four county group met at Green River February 26 and elected Ken Silliman, Green River, as its chairman; Arnold 1st Mathis, Price, Tinna Willie, Blanding, 2nd and Elmer Dravage, Moab, Secretary. The Regional group selected Price for establishment of their Southeastern Utah office and headquarters, with a county coordinator from each of the four counties. This group put in a lot of time and accomplished the preparation and applied for a charter and approved Articles of Incorporation, as well as bylaws to govern the program. It is the intention of the Regional Group to participate and make available for qualified residents of these four counties the many programs Congress has authorized under its War. Through its Office of Economic Opportunity, the Regional group is comprised of each county Community Action Committee. The major aim of the Regional Community Action Group is to provide technical and financial assistance for its urban and rural communities to fight poverty.
