Basketball players are found underneath, on top of, running around, jumping over, passing by, twisting from, or driving through the opposing team. Teammates rub them, officials penalize them, kid brothers idolize them, girls adore them, mothers worry about thorn. A basketball player eats like a horse and sleeps like a log. To an opponent he has the speed of a gazelle, the strength of an ox, the size of an elephant, the cunning of a fox, the agility of an adagio dancer, and the quickness of a cat. To his own coach he has the stability of mush, the fleetness of a snail, the mentality of a mule, is held together by adhesive tape and baling wire, and has about as much chance of playing the next game as would his own grandfather. A basketball player is a wonderful creature you can criticize him, but you cant discourage him. You can defeat his team, but never his spirit. He is a hard working, untiring, determined guy doing the very best he can for his school. sembly. The tryouts began last Monday beginning at 12:30 until 1:00, after which everyone returned to their regular classes. We are very proud to say that we had over 30 tryouts with 1 to 7 persons participating in each number wearing their original Costumes. Every number has been very outstanding and we want to thank everyone for taking part. The numbers were all equally judged for the originality, costume, applause, etc. They were judged by three faculty members,, two Council members, and one student. The numbers with the highest score will have the privilege of going on an over night exchange assembly trip. The decision will be given later. The student body was also given a film on civil defense which Im sure has been considered very seriously by the studentbody and faculty. The Freshles have been very busy working on their operetta called Tom Sawyer, which they presented to the public Monday night This went over very successfully. Congratulations, Freshies! Pertaining to the game last Friday night, the studentbody as a whole feel that the game was very outstanding and one we have looked forward to for a long time, and congratulations North Emery! We are all looking forward to the game Wednesday night with Green-rivwhich will be played in the school auditorium and the game Friday night which will be played at Notre Dame. We hope that the studentbody will be able to make the trip and cheer our boys to vicer tory. llaser Lo Mrs Sarah Pulsipher go-ahe- Mrs. Ruth Robertson and young ihildren returned home the last of tne week after visiting her mother and other relatives in Salt Lake ity.
