Humphrey are home from Salt Lake City for a couple of weeks. Mr Humphrey is nursing his right hand which was operated on before Christmas. Bland Fox, Castle Dale, was named president of the Dale local of Orangeville-Cast- le the National Farmers Union at a meeting held in the Orange ville school house recently. Elected as vice president was Mel rose Tuttle, Orangeville, and Russel Justesen, also of Orr. angeville was named secretary-treeasure- At the same meeting, which was attended by about thirty, a report of the recent Spanish Fork conclave at which national president James Patton was speaker, was given by State President Jesse S. Tuttle. According to Mr Tuttle, parity prices, soil bank and farm surpluses were the chief subjects at the Spanish Fork meet. Their folk hadnt expected them and were surprised when they called from Provo to meet the mat the bus depot. They have been in the service four years and a good share of the time on ship or overseas. Bruce and wife Rosalie were in Provo last week tto find living accom modations, as he expects to go to school. Davidl will continue in telepraphy. Their parents are Mr and Mrs Clem Gordon. Chester Taylor is on leave from the Navy for the holidays Mrs Della Taylor says ten days fly by in a hurry. Home from army service for the holidays is Ted Childs, son of Mr and Mrs Osden. Childs, who has been stationed in the central states. Lloyd Moffitt spent the holidays with his parents, Mr and Mrs Leslie Moffitt. He is serving in the army. Lorill Moffitt is also home from her work in Salt Lake City. Mrs Margaret E. Jewkes is visiting with her daughter, the Lynn Allens, at Draper. Mrs Betty Bryan and family of Kenilworth have been visitMrs Grace ing her mother, Jewkes, and others.. Mi's Leah Luke is spending the Christmas season in Coalville with her daughter and fam iiy the Ben Killpacks. Here for the. weekend were Mr and Mrs Tom Humphrey of Cuba, Arizona. Tom is working with an oil company. Mrs Katy Sevy is in Salt Lake enjoying the Yuletide with her grandchildren and great grand children. Enjoying Xmas with their son and family, the Earl Crawfords, were Mr and Mrs Leslie Crawford. Earl lives at Carson City, Nevada. Mr and Mrs Ray Hassinger and children are spending the holidays in Washington state with relatives. Mr and Mrs Hurst Thygerson an dthree children of Provo visited her mother, Mrs Maria Cox Saturday and Sunday a week ago. Ferris Nelson had an operation at the Price hospital Tues day of last week. He is at his home now feeling improved. Mrs Eva Bryan has been in Kearns the past week with her daughter Yvonne and family, Mr and Mrs Henry Reid. Mr and Mrs Uoyd! Petty were in Salt Lake Friday of last week to attend funeral service for his brother, Clyde who died of a heart attack. Surviving Clyde is his wife andi two children. He was bom in Ferron, a son of Mr and Mrs Alonzo Petty. Mr and Mrs Thomas Worthen spent Christmas week end in Dragerton with some of their children: Mr and Mrs Ray Wor then and Mr and Mrs Hugh Moffitt, an iditheir families.. Mr Pettey was born in Fer ron April 30, 11906, son of Keber Alonzo and: Malinda Lowery Pettey. He was graduated from Ferron High School and then was a student of the University of Utah. Mr.. Pettey was associated for many years with the Patrick Dry Goods Co. as a travel ing salesman in Utah and Nevada. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the firm. He is survived by his widow, the former Ruth Nylander of Salt Lake City, a son Roger, a daughter, Annette, his mother, and four brothers and two sisters: Earl of Oregon, Melvin andi Clell of Salt Lake City, and Lloyd of Ferron, Mrs J. 1. Stevens of Salt Lake City and Edrla McNiel of Orangeville. He was a member of the Col cnlal Hills ward in Salt Lake City and a member of the Sait Lake Elks Lodge, in which he was active in relief for crippled children and other needy. Huntington Erin T. However, effective with the 1955 program, there are no allotment restriction tied to the ACP, Mr Christensen advised. He further stated that a written request for assistance under the program must be filed with the county office prior to the time work commences on any practice. The ACP shares with farmers the cost of many practices that are con sidered in the Interest of the nation as a whole. Some of the practices included1 in the Emery County program are seeding pastures, land leveling, con structing irrigation and livestock ponds and reservoirs, re organization of irrigation systems, lining of irrigation ditch es. There are also other practices on which assistance may be provided, Mr Christensen said. The local A SC County Office is located in the Court House at Castle Daaie and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a. m. to 5 p. m.
