Colorado Special Correspondent The Castle Dale Lions gave a farewell party in honor of Gordon and Norma Beckstrand Monday night, Feb. 14. A lovely Valentine motive was carried out on all the table decorations, with a giant silver valentine at the honored guests table. A delicious hot supper was served during which several Lions entertained the group with interesting stories. The music of the evening was the two ibeautiful vocal duets rendered toy Gordon and Norma. and They sang Sweethearts Always. A piano solo Dizzy Fingers was played by Craig Otterstrom. Church Units Reorganized Mrs Olsen Rose by Emery The YMMIA was reorganized last Sunday with Ferry H Win-nemuc- North Emery FFA Boys Seek Utah State Honors Huntington Special Correspondent Candidates from North Emery for the coveted State Farmer Degree of the FFA are Bobby Staker of Huntington and LaVon Day of Elmo. Only the top 2 percent of the 3000 Future Farmer boys of the State of Utah qualify for this award each year. The basis for qualifying is scope of projects and a growth into the farming enterprise chosen by the boy. Their scholarship must be in the upper 20 per cent of the class. They must have leadership in community, school and church affairs. The boys must be able to lead group discussions and have a working knowledge of parliamentary procedure. Each candidate must have earned at least $250 as a result of their farming enterprises and must submit an accurate and comprehensive record book to substantiate their efforts. Edna May Funk, Dorthy Olsen and Joan Behling are in Logan at the USAC where they have been taking a course in Leadership Training. They left here Sunday, Feb. 2D. Mr and Mrs Arnold Wayman were in Salt Lake City last week to visit their son Arnold in the hospital. He is suffering from TB which he get in the Service. They found he is improving and will possibly be able to return home soon. An Exchange student from the BYU, Agnes Hooft, of Nevada is taking a course in Home Economics under the supervision of Lucinda Fullmer, at South Emery. Mr and Mrs Malcolm Smith and children have moved here to live for a while. They are living in the Ted Swasey place at Molen. Mrs Smith was formerly Faun Swasey.
