Tuttle, chairman of the Emery County Production and Marketing Administration Committee, there were held at Castle Dale on January 17 and .18 a series of meetings for the purpose of acquainting and In structing P M A community committeemen who represent the eight communities of Em ery County. There were present at these meetings 20 out of 24 elected PMA qemmittee-meAl o in attendance were local Soil Conservation district supervisors and members, SCS and PMA personnel from both State, district and County levels. According to Mr Tuttle, who conducted these meetings, they were called to explain in detail the importance of all-oproduction during the present crisis, also the necessity of maintaining good conservation prac tices In order that we may maintain high production and also conserve our vital soil and Elder Rowley water resources. Another phase of the meeting was devoted to instructing those responsible on the procedure of carrying out the special County ACP program that Is going forward in our county. The South Emery Band Mothers held a meeting Monday night in the school house to start this years work rolling. They elected the following officers: Ada Nielsen, Pres.; Ida Conklin, vice Pres.; Zenna Crawford, Secy and Pauline Snow, advertising agent. Also 2 were chosen from each of the other towns, Emery, Clawson, Orangeville and Castle Dale, to help with this. One of their objectives at present Is to raise money to buy new band suits. The Birthday Club members and their husbands held a party Friday night, Jan. 12 in the Town Hall. Refreshments were served. The Triple L Club members held a party Saturday night at the home of Clyda Black, In honor of the lflth Anniversary. They were the first club to organize in Ferron. Games were played and refreshments served. The Acacia Club members were entertained Friday night by LaRene Fish at her home. Ada Nielsen gave the lesson and a nice lunch was served. Shortly after arriving in California he drove a herd of sheep to Utah, taking 3 years for the journey. Most of his life was spent tending sheep and cattle for 'various men In Eastern Utah. For the past 17 years he has been employed by the a Wll-ber- gs. Funeral services were conducted in the Castle Dale Ward Chapel with Bp. Glen P. Bott officiating. Burial was in the Castle Dale cemetery under the direction of the Wltbeck Funeral Home. No known relatives survive. 81st Birthday Is Observed Mrs Rose Olsen, Reporter Emery Mrs Anena Petty of Emery celebrated her 81st birthday at her home Saturday, Jan. 19 with friends and' loved ones. Mrs Petty came from Aurhuse, Denmark at the age of 5 and with her ll year old sister, Sev erene Olsen, she crossed the Atlantic Ocean. Her father, Christian Simonsen, sent mem bers of his family to Utah as fast as he could earn their transportation. Here they were with L. D. S. people, the church they joined In Denmark. Her first home was In Ephraim. She married Adelbert Petty in 1899 and they made their home in Emery and' became Interested In the dairy business. They became the parents of 8 daughters and one son, of which 7 daughters are living. Among Mrs Pettys many duties and accomplishments she sewed for the dead for 20 years on the Relief Society sewing committee. She has 20 grandchildren and 23 great grand children. She has been a widow for IS years. She has a charming personality and shows exquisite taste In her appearance and personal grooming. Her home radiates her magic touch In spite of her failing health in the past year. |
