The Huntington Junior Rifle Club has been granted a junior club charter in the National Rifle Association, it was announced! during the week. Membership to the new organization, which will devote itself to the various phases of target shooting under the official rules of the NRA, i open to any boy or girl under 13 years of age. Lewis Johnson of Huntington has been appointed instructor of the club and will teach the fundamentals of rifle shooting and train them to handle all firearms safely. All shooting is to be done wi'th the .22 calibre rifle. Duncan Expires At Idaho Home Deborah Huntsman, reporter George Duncan a former resident of Femon, now of Black foot, Idaho, died at his home there last Friday evening of cerebral hemorrhage. The body was brought here Tuesday, by the Peck and Packham mortuary from Blackfioot, Idaho ' and the funeral was held at 1:00 pm. in the church with Arthur ILemon, counselor, in charge. The program was as follows: The Ladies Chorus sang two numbers; songs by Kenna Jen sen and Laretta Duncan of Clawson, Frieda Behling, President Packham of Idaho; talks were given by Robert Dahle, Pres. Perry E. Snow, Mrs. Bern am of Carbon Stake, Bp. T. H. Worthen and a tribute by Pres. Packham of Idaho; opening prayer by Harold Sorensen and, closing prayer by Hyrum W. Zwahlen. The grave was dedicated by a son. Evert Duncan. Mr. Duncan was 61 years of age. bom at Ferron, March 23. 1385 and a son of John C. and Thressa Ann Duncan. Here at the funeral were his wife Jennie and all six sons: Lland and Llewllyn of Pingree Idaho; Orson of Idaho Falla: Morris, Thomas, Idaho; Everet and Mervin of Blackfoot; and all of their wives and ten grand also a sister, Mrs. children, of Dragerton Bertha Pettey and many other relatives from out-of-tow- n. On the basis of a $3,000 maximum tax evaluation limit on picperty, Sections. 4 and 5 of Chapter 2, Title 80 of the 1943 Revised Statutes provides for an exemption ratio in ekact proportions to the degree of disability for disabled veterans, with the exception that a veteran must be at least 25 per cent diisabledi to qualify. This means that a veteran with a thirty per cent disability would be exempt- from 30 percent of his total property tax if the assessed valuation of his property is $3,000 or less. He would of course pay regular rates op all assessed valuatiqn above $3,000. The VA points out that the disabilities do not have to bo connected for the law frvlce, to apply. The same act further provides that the widows and minor children or orphaned child ren of deceased) veterans are exempt from all property taxes up to the $3,009 assessed limitation. The law applies here regardless of the time or cause of the veterans death. For instance 'the widow of a World i veteran who had just been killed accidentally would qualify under the act. It is the desire of the County Library Board, to establish a branch library in Emery, Huntington and Cleveland as soon as these communities can find suitable locations for the same. When all branches are established there will be an estimated circulation of 20,000 books per year, which will be well worth the levy of one mill , of tax.
