FRIDAY, Several Citizens Escape Serious Injury as Lightning Strikes Service Men CASTLE DALE Jennie narrowly Fran-dso- n escaped death, when struck by lightning, on Thursday afternoon. She reached to turn' on the light and flashes flew in all directions. Jennie was knocked down and where she had been standing the floor was cracked and a large piece of the floor covering was torn out. She has been off work for four days recovering from shock. The same flash seemed to strike the whole lower end o. town. George Lowry was knock- -' ed down. Herman Behlings fuse plugs were melted in the fuse box. Edd Cox was knocked off the bed and at Sybil Youngs it seemed to follow down the light cord until it reached the cement foundation of the building. Levi was a veteran of the African campaign, and had recently been transfered to Italy. The telegram was sent to Mrs. Young by the War Department the first of August. Services were conducted by Bishop Eugene Johansen and were as follows: Opening song was Sleep Soldier Sleep, by the Ward chorus; opening prayer by President Merrill Cook and the first speaker was Clive Killpack of Ferron. A vocal trio sang Theres a Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere followed by a talk by Nephl L. Williams, the vocal chorus sang and the Whispering Hope closing speaker was Bishop E A. Nelson. The program closed with the singing of America and a closing prayer by A. G. Jewkes, Jr. Singing, Prayer, Introduction of Theme, President; Story Illustrating Theme, Juanita Snow; Quartet, Roma Magnuson, Annette ' Crawford, Imogene Snow Bud and Joan Wall; Story, Draper; Solo, Margaret Cox; Story, Ina Lee Johansen; Story, YMMIA Roma Magnuson; Congregation Singing, Repeating of Theme, Congregation; Benediction. The Stake Convention for all M. I. A. officers and teachers will be held Tuesday, 8:00 P. M., Castle Dale School Auditorium, with the Stake Officers officiating.
