Show tWgfal Page A5 DeRetha Thompson died Dec. 29 Dick Ray Shumway died Jan. Wayrw Wright Wayne S. Wright passed away Jan. 6, 2002 at Allen Memorial Hospital, after a lingering illness. He was born Sept. 13, 1914 in Gunnison, Colo., to Frank and Bertha Scott Wright. Memorial services were held on Jan. 9, 2002 at the Moab Valley Inn reception room, followed by a pot luck dinner. Les Thayn officiated. Wayne spent his childhood in Gunnison, Montrose and rounding area. He married Lucille Heirst. lb Colo., Wayne (Nita), Grand Junction, Charles F. Wright of Arizona, Robert (Sandy) Wright of Oklahoma City, Okla., Dorothy Ann Duffers, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Linda, Perrin, Okla., Debbie Lynn Wright of Nebraska and Larry B. Wright of Moab. He is also survived two brothers and two sisters. As a young boy Wayne worked at his grandparents dairy Shumway and Ardith Zufelt Shumway, He married Glenna Christine Lee, of Pasco, Wash., July 7, 1969. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS and Tbmple on Nov. 26, 1974. He is survived by his wife, Chris, and nine children (and re- spective spouses): , (Chandra), Charla (Wesley), Ammon, Aaron and Dani. Surviving are his wife, Lehs, w ho he married Nov. 27, 1975, his stepchildren, Carlos, Leonor, Mirna and her two daughters, Patricia and Elsy. Also surviving are his five children, ten grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren as well as his brother Dick Ray Shumway, 54, lifelong resident of Moab, died the morning of Jan. 1, 2002 after battling cancer for several months. She married Harry Priest in 1925; the marriage lasted 36 hours, and Harry was killed in a car accident on his way to work. She married Luke Thompson in 1928, and they were married 59 years. Luke died in July 1987. Luke and Retha lived in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, California, Arizona and Utah. After Luke's death she split her time between Arizona and Utah. She cared for her brothers and sisters her entire life, but after the death of her parents and two older brothers, she became the head of the family. She passed away of natural causes on Dec. 29, 2001, in the extended care unit of Allen Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Doyle, Leonard and Lloyd and sister Betty Giese.
